Why would you want to use an SD card to load back-ups in first place? USB is the standard for a ton of reasons. You can use a any flash drive is you don't hand an external HDD at hand.

I don't have a hdd and my usb is only 8GB, whereas my sd card is 32GB and it works but its better on hdd or usb right

I don't have one of those, you know for using hard drives on your wii you need a special cable to convert to usb. But i have heard that some don't work because there isn't enough power going into it from the wii, is this true?

That is true, some won't work due to lack of power. It's safer to use an external hdd with it's own powersupply. Or just buy a cheap usb-stick, they use little power.

Get something like 64-128GB usb 2.0 (yup, i'm cheap).

Any 2.5 HDD enclosure works. I have 5 of them, and most of them were used on the Wii at some point.
You can also use a 3.5 HDD with external power. Either solution is as cheap as a decent sized USB stick.

And you have more space for games.

Well, get used to switch between games pretty often.

It works great, almost zero load times in games and I have had it for at least a year and rock solid reliable. My grandson plays it almost daily and I like to sneak a game in here and there too.

lol I think it would have to be like 900 games to get it full, I have a few over 400 and it's not even half way. Plus I have all the larger games I am sure? Although to be honest I am pretty sure I have all the great and good games and a big selection of playable games lol
