I just ran into this issue with this game tonight - wish I would have known about it (or thought to look it up) before hand! This is the first game with a saving issue I've run into with my setup, so it took me by surprise.

For the record, I am using an EZ Flash IV with the 2.05 version of the EZ Flat skin, and I never use the added features like the soft reset so they are disabled. I have already ordered an Omega before running into this issue, so I suppose I will just wait to play this game until it arrives and I can test it out there. If I do, I will report back!

Mine is a no-intro, clean rom as well. For me, I played through the entire beginning set of 10 courses, filled in my score information, and then it hung on a "saving" screen for awhile before flashing a "save failed" message. I tried a few more things in game to get the save to happen again and every time it flashed to the "save failed" message. Upon turning the GBA off, the EZ Flash IV looked like it was backing up the save file, but of course upon launching the game again there was no high score or other information saved (all 9 of the levels beyond the very first were not unlocked in the practice mode area).

I will note, mine is a USA version rom however, not a European one like you noted. I can try the European one to see if that makes a difference, I guess.

Yeah, I just double checked, saving works fine. I Initially tested the saving function by bringing up the pause menu ans selecting to save.

But I also have now tested finishing all 10 levels and I didn't get an error saving my highscore. After a reset, the highscore was also still there.

So maybe it is an issue with the US release only.

As a quick update - I tried both the European and USA versions on the EZ Flash Omega and they worked fine. I tried the European version on the EZ Flash IV and it also worked fine. So I am guessing its some issue with the USA version on the EZ Flash IV specifically.
