Hi everyone.
I recently got a second hand 2ds xl with CFW. It worked well for a day or two but I once or twice got an error page with a black screen. This morning It did not turn on. The blue light would turn on and turn off. I tried reinstalling luma (I read this online. I downloaded boot firm file and pasted it into the sd card). The device did turn on after couple of minutes but all the titles were missing and it crashed. Then, I inserted the original sd card and it turned on fine. I could play with cartridge. So, without checking it online, I reset the device to factory settings thinking it would remove cfw. It turns out no. When I insert the cfw sd card it does turn on and does not crash. Now I am afraid of following the tutorial on the internet to remove cfw, because I don't want to brick it. Please help me. It is my first ever game console. What should I do, fix the cfw or remove it somehow and reinstall cfw. Thank you!

Why do you think removing cfw would fix anything? It wont. period. You will be stuck without a way to troubleshoot your 3ds. You will want to follow the 3ds.hacks.guide finalizing steps to get everything back on there to get the troubleshooting steps started.

I did try that. But I cannot update the device without being connected to the internet. Would my device be blocked by being connected?

Yes But it is the original. I did not change it after the initial error.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I renewed it with the new one I downloaded. Homebrew did open up but when I click on ctr-no-timeoffset, I get an error.

You know, we can't really help you unless you elaborate on what the error is. "Oh no I got an error am I bricked" tells us absolutely nothing to help.
Answering the issues posed in the OP:
  1. Uninstalling CFW will fix nothing and can cause more issues than it would fix in the first place. The only practical reason to remove CFW from a system is to resell it, and even then it's still a better idea to keep it installed. Consider not uninstalling it.
  2. What you describe in the OP (device taking a while to power on, missing titles, crashing) sounds like something that can happen because of SD Card corruption. Remove the SD Card from the console, back up everything on your SD Card, reformat it, and ensure that your SD Card is not corrupted by using H2testw (Windows), F3 (Linux), or F3X (Mac).

I get the error in the picture. Also I will check if the sd card is corrupted.
