Along with the two Pokémon-focused livestreams airing this month, Nintendo has announced another livestream focused on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Airing on June 22nd at 7am PT/10am ET, and lasting approximately 35 minutes, it will give an in-depth look at the new fighter from the ARMS franchise that will be joining as DLC. In a follow-up Tweet, Nintendo confirmed that there will be no new fighter announcements during the stream. They did not mention, however, if there may be more details regarding upcoming amiibo figures, as some of the previous DLC fighter livestreams have featured.

I am glad they announced there won't be any characters confirmed during the stream just so people will keep their expectations in check. I don't think it'll stop people from expecting something huge regardless (and maybe something cool will be in the new update), but it's something.

everyone: MARIO 3D COLLECTION! NEW GAMES! A DIRECT! PLEASE NINTENDO, P L E A S E !
nintendo: huh? what's that? you want our abandoned game's character in smash?
To be fair, they can work on Smash fighters and other games at the same time. They can also reveal new games outside of Directs. See: Origami King and the new Pokemon Snap.
