While I agree with the majority of your comment, this...no. BotW was an utter abomination; it was "ambitious", but not at all a "worthwhile" one.
I don't want anything to be like BotW - that is to say, crippled by stupid mechanic hindrances such as limited stamina and equipment fragility, repetitive locations like the shrines were, and being far too open and large and tedious to traverse.
It's why I love the DS Pokemon games so much; they were definitely linear closed-worlds, but they still had the sense of adventure and technical improvements and additions they needed. While some things were dropped between each pair of games (and Platinum), there were enough new things added to compensate - no more VS Seeker? Gym Leader rematches. No more Gym Leader rematches? Shaking grass, for Audino. Walking Pokemon, seasons, Hidden Abilities, fully-animated Pokemon sprites followed by animated trainer sprites for every trainer class (not just important ones like rivals and Gym Leaders), Distortion World, Pokeathlon, Battle Frontier, Key System, etc.
There were no real crippling factors, unlike in BotW. Nothing to make me wish they had made something else, something they already had experience making.
Until XY, anyway.
A larger Pokemon game should be like Xenoblade Chronicles 2, methinks - somewhat-large environments, but not too large; no overly-intrusive bullshit mechanics (gacha's just to get Rare Blades; once gotten, it doesn't affect anything else); fun action-oriented fights with moves being the equivalent of Arts, with the Trainers providing support from behind.
I dunno.
--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------
Sega needs to port their Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 mobile remakes to other platforms, since those mobile games have additional functionality over the original games.
Who made those mobile games? Hangman and someone else, I think...I dunno, never played them since I hate touch controls and hate most Bluetooth controllers (the majority of them are unfortunately modelled after Xbox controllers, which are horribly uncomfortable and horrendously designed). I'd certainly buy and play them on my Switch or laptop, though.
That's your opinion, while I agree there are some problems with BoTW, it may be one of my favorite game of all time. I wouldn't take Xenoblade 2 as an example tho, the scenario is dumb and bullshit, it's cliché asf, it's so cliché it made me cringe so hard and I have never cringed in front of a video game before, but a Pokemon game could take it's landscapes as an example tho, it's one of the things I totally enjoyed with Xenoblade 1 & 2, it's the landscapes, you feel so small and it's really beautiful, having this kind of environment filled with Pokemon and places to explore would be so great
There has been a definite drop in quality.
Pokemon Yellow is amazing for a first gen game.
Gold and Silver are my favourite in the series.
Then... came third Gen, buggy as hell, the only really good game was Pokemon Emerald.
Then the DS had Pokemon Black and White, the rest are quite forgettable.
Then I didn't care about Pokemon until Sun and Moon.
The Pokemon Switch games? Eh, The Pokemon Go ones had a 50 $ bucks DLC for Mew and it even came with an expiration date mesning that if you bought the darn Pokeball after that date you got nothing.
The others? Screw Galar.
Giant Battles are not worth the much reduced cast of Pokemon.
I started with the gen 3 so I'm kinda biaised, but even for then it was quite good (started with Saphir, not Emerald), I enjoyed the underwater areas back then but it never came back ...
Diamond is probably the game I've spent the most time with, I don't think it's forgetable, to me it may have the best story, the Pokemons had really great designs, it was also the beginning of the online component, and best of all things, the "mini quests" had little stories, catching Darkrai, Cresselia, Arceus, Giratina and such ... Were litteraly quests. You would receive a flute or something, in order to catch the Pokemon by yourself. Now a delivery guy just gives it to you and that's all, it's lame.
Black & White were kinda good but I got bored very quickly (tho I REALLY liked the fact that the characters were older like 17), Black & White 2 tho are the best Pokemon games ever made and they never wanted to do better since : story, content, graphics, post-ligue .... there's just everything, it's just great.
I was able to excuse X and Y for being that disappointing, they had to redo all the assets in 3D and they delivered, even tho the unsolved mysteries are stupidly dumb, like "oh yeah we did that because we wanted fans to make theories about it and share in on internet" yeah of course, that's not because you just wanted to fill it with things and take fans for idiots. They don't understand that fans do bother to make theories if there is something beihind, if they just say "oh there's nothing but just make theories" then nobody will give a fuck about it
But yeah, since then, it's all downhill.
I'm more angry towards all those people who yelled at GF because of nationaldex, but still bought the game day one, making it break sales records, like .... The only moment where you have to actually do something (NOT buying the game), they just won't despite being angry. Literally complaining about GF lying and stuff, still buying ... I have nothing about those who still enjoy the game tho, I can't go against that, but I can't stand those people who yelled for something better, yet they don't do what's necessary.
