Hacking Question Old Timer needs help in this switch woods full of trees

Hello,

Has to be one of my first threads I started since I got here back when we were still playing our GBA's

I have a question and I'm too old to figure everything out myself, Since there too many tutorials to many youtube instructions videos and too many ways to hack a switch.
I hope someone will help me out with these questions

Time to shoot starts here xD

I have a switch with FW 2.3 haven't updated since i preordered Sx Pro when I was about to get a release.
that's 2018, haven't played on the switch since then, that's horrible ! and time I should hack it since i want to play the new Paper Mario when it gets out.
Now, what should I do?

install SX os and hack it that way or ...
Chose the other available methods like described on https://switch.homebrew.guide/

How do i do a emunand? to spoof FW that i'm higher and not on 2.3?
I tried many times to start hacking it, but the FW change so quick I was never able to follow all the steps.

the main point is I want to spoof FW and try to play online, now and then.

All the help is welcome.

Following this guide allows you to create an EmuNAND (at least it helped me do so).

After that you can install atmosphere or you can install atmosphere + hekate to run it, or whatever other solution you would like.

If you want to play nsp, nsz, etc (for paper Mario or others) you will need sigpatches, that you can also get them through the forums.

Everyone recommends fat32 but I am using exfat due to convenience of >4GB file sizes and so far it's working well. Hope I don't jinx it.

Did the switch to EmuNAND not that long ago (still have 4.1 sysnand) and quite happy with it.

EDIT: forgot to mention that if you want to update the FW from your EmuNAND (initially it will be the same as your sysnand) you can use ChoijoudourNX (1.02 I think it's the latest version). For that you will need to FW files, but you will have to get them outside from these forums.

The process is quite fast overall, you might take more time to understand which files need to go where.

My explanations are for using atmosphere, not SXOS, if you want to do that you have to look elsewhere.

If you follow the guide I linked you should be able to make an EmuNAND in your SD card, make a backup of your system Nand (to be able to recover in case of trouble) and to play nsps (games).

Sigpatches are signature patches and they allow you to run unsigned code by Nintendo. You need those to play NSPs.

If you want to play online forget about EmuNAND, buy the games and use them as they were intended, or you will most likely get banned.

A payload just allows you to get into RCM (recovery mode) and run various applications. A CFW is a set of files that you need to add to your SD card, that replicate the OS of your console but adds other functions.

I recommend that you read the guide I linked and you read elsewhere for more information. It should work to get you where you want.

If you don't understand what you are doing you have more chances to screw up.

You don't spoof the firmware of your switch since in your case your console is unpatched and you can hack it on any firmware. Therefore, you simply update (update offline with ChoiDujourNX if you want to keep your fuse count on 2.3). Either you use SX OS, which has a manual on their website or you use the free alternative Atmosphere. There are so many guides, it's not a complex task if you take your time for reading.

I'm like really old too (50)...
This is what I did:
Buy the largest (not too slow) microsd-card, at least 64GB, I'm running 200GB which is half full.
Get the latest version of hekate! Read up on which sigpatches you need (depends on your payload)
First use hekate to create a full backup and store it somewhere very safe!!!
Use hekate to create an emunand, update this with Choidujournx to 10.0.4.
I used different sources but got it all working,

My switch never sees the internet, not even my wifi, but what homebrew needs internet
I use a lite to play online...

already feel bad that i tried it.

Bleu screen, time and time again when trying to boot SX os and starting to make an emunand.

The switch is still on FW 2.0.0
But when I followed this guide

to installe the emunand while in SX OS I changed my sd card to my 256 gig card.
that didn't work because of the current OFW

so I tried the 32 gig sd card that I used first (after i got the "license") , now when I tried to press volume + power on and dongle in, it shows the SX os screen
and then Blue
Bleu
Blue Blue Bleu

it's already fucked

Okay, did factory reset, tried again...

After making emunand and trying to run it again, Blue screen.
tried going to SX OS 2.9.2. instead of 3.0.0 now i have black screen ......

i dont get it anymore, after so many years of waiting, now it goes all wrong.

Format your 256 GB sd card to FAT32 and create EmuNAND again.

With the creation of emuNAND you can't really destroy your console. It's always recommended to create a backup of your NAND before doing any hacking stuff.

ok, that i understood already,
but i got 2 blue screens at different times, one before creating emunand and getting license running
the other one after creating the emunand and backup of Sysnand

no they where different, the first one i tried to make the license was a 32sd cards sandisk
the one i used to make the emunandn was a samsung 256 EVO

maybe i need to check my sd card first ,because now i get constant black screens.
Sx os loading screen comes up, and that's about it ....

Create emu nand for cfw and use regular nand for online play with legit games, lots of guides on the site but dont forget to make a nand backup before you do any modding.
