I tried to look a bit more for a solution to your problem, and noticed that Tueidj himself advised to try to run the games with patch disabled to "rule out" an XML / patch issue.

Since neither of us has managed to make the game boot without the patch on vWii using Riivolution (although it does boot in Japanese for me using Usb Loader Gx, and you succeeded with Gecko), I guess there is an incompatibility issue between this game and Riivolution.

Unless someone releases an update or a mod for Riivolution one day, there's not much we can do, apart from creating an ISO if you don't own (or don't want to use) a "real" Wii.

Sorry man, I wished I could help you with that ! Hope you'll give the patch a chance anyway and have a nice day!

Thank You for GREAT effort !
Your conclusion is pretty precise.

I think Riivolution is not open source, and I even can't download a older version 1.05 ( which is the first version officially support vWii ) to try my luck.
So let me hope Riivolution can get a mall update to address this problem.
Like your great translation patch, just release as a big surprise!

BTW. I just can't resist to play a little more in Japanese, after a while, the only game I want to play is "Hyrule Warriors"...:rofl2: slash some monsters...

The version of Riivolution included in my patch is 1.06, but I don't think it will help you sadly...

Hello everyone,

Just a small message I wanted to write, after it was brought to my attention that Riivolution seemed to have some troubles working on Wii U (vWii mode), at least with the patches I released.

I went through some tests, and it seems that :

  • With Earth Seeker, going back to main menu after pressing the “Home” button might result in a black screen,
  • With Ikenie, Riivolution seems to refuse to boot the game, whether you apply the patch or not.

None of these issues occur on an original Wii, at least to my knowledge, so they seem to be vWii related : thus, there’s not much I can do.

So my advise to Wii U users would be to favor ISO creation instead of Riivolution, especially for Ikenie since there doesn’t seem to be a known workaround.

Owners of “real” Wii can use Riivolution, or create a patch, to their convenience.

If anybody has managed to overcome the issue, please let me know.

I wish you all a nice day.

Congratulations for this amazing work ! I'll give it a try.:yaywii:

Any plan for a french translation ?

Another thing : I'm not asking for compliments, but I'm thinking about submitting the patch to some websites that are specialized in translation : do you have any names? And can I have your feedbacks so far please ?

The best place is romhacking.net but i've seen in the forum section you mentionned your translation.;)

Merci pour ton message ! As for a French translation, it would require severe compromise in storytelling : I already had troubles rephrasing sentences in English so that they would "fit" in the same number of characters as Japanese, and French is even longer ! Maybe I'll do it one day, but right now I think it's easier for me to translate in English.I can offer my help to anyone who wants to translate the game in his/her native language though (as long as they mention me, of course). :)

Bonne soirée, cher compatriote !

So i managed to apply the patch, it's working now.

The most difficult part was to boot the game on a real Wii.
First, I wasn't able to copy the save from my SD card to the console because it says i needed a copy first.
Then, the game didin't boot with USB loader GX, i had to setup the video output to NTSC 480 especially for this game with the loader.
Obviously, i had the error message concerning the corrupted save data.
I went back to the save manager and i successfully managed to copy the save !

Concerning the game itself, I like the atmosphere, the caracters move slowly, but it increases the tension and vulnerability of the player.
I don't have the feeling that the cursor moves too fast.

Good job anyway.

Thank you for your feedback. I thinks it's worth mentioning that, unless your setting for video mode in usb loader is set on "disc by default", you need to force ntsc for a pal console when playing a Japanese or American game.

Well I finished the game yesterday.
The end was pretty confusing, you go back to the main menu, no credits rolling.
I had to watch a video on YouTube to realize you have to replay the End chapter in order to get the real ending.
Then a hard mode wiil appear with special conditions to success this mode.

Yes I could have missed this part if I hadn't known more text was in the file. Finish hard mode and you will unlock the "Eroge " chapter.

After you're done with it, go back to the credits. The ending song will be "a little bit" different. :grog:

Pretty nice !

Offf topic : I'm playing Project Zero 4 in french.

Damn, the gameplay with the wiimote is awkward. The light or the camera move with the gyro sensor, not with the cursor unlike Ikenie No Yoru. It's pretty unresponsive and slow when you aim at the ghosts.

True, The Project Zero serie could have been so much better on the Wii if they had gone for a cursor control... Some say it would have made the games too easy but this is one of my deepest regrets for the serie.

Still, PZ4 is particularly fun to play. The "fatal frame" move is better than in PZ2, with a flashing light that feels very satisfactory.

Both games are still very worth trying, and we French are very lucky to have had such a 1st quality translation (the team is my true role model) !

PS : if you're using a loader, try activating the gecko code to run faster. Makes a real difference playgamewise.

Sooooo... This is what you get when you try to offer your translation for free on a NeoGAF topic entitled "Ikenie No Yoru : shame it never got localized"...

Didn't think of me as a a "review whore", but apparently that's what they think I am... too bad for people who won't find my translation... Well anyway !

EDIT : Thanks to Stranno, I'm back on NeoGAF ! :toot:

Thank you Brand! :yaywii:

It looks like a more developed version of Nanashi no Game. I have played with the Balance Board and it doesnt add much to the gameplay but at least it is responsive.

NeoGAF staff member EviLore has unbanned you :)

Thank you very much, I had just started to plead my case when I got the notification !

I left you a little "thank you" message on NeoGaf, but I'm taking the occasion to thank you again. I had never been banned in my life, not even refused on a club !

All is well that ends well then.

Have a nice evening.

Hello everyone. Just a little message to ask for your feedbacks on my work, now that some of you must have kicked the games.

If you could leave some comments on Romhacking.net, that would be very much appreciated, especially for "Ikenie", since people can't see the number of downloads (it's hosted on Dropbox because of its size), and think the translation is some sort of scam.

Don't feel forced of course, but that would be nice. Thank you in advance, I'm going back on working the next translation !

Have a nice WE !

Yes the mote is overly sensitive, but I found the game to play much better when you turned the rumble function off. Hope it helps!

Just noticed that and turned the rumble off, too-- it's a real shame, since I love rumble!! For me, every single time I pointed at someone, and it rumbled, it immediately threw my pointer 180-degrees away from the person I was pointing at! Why do you think that is? I can only assume that it's not supposed to be that way.

EDIT: Just tried again, I can see that if I really, REALLY, really REALLY just tilt the Wiimote ever so slowly (and by that, I mean, just keep it at a 35-degree angle to the censor bar and watch the cursor move) and sneak up on the hitbox for these characters, I can get it not to move so much. Maybe it's also because I'm using a Wiimote with Motion Plus? The whole "shake the Wiimote to turn around" must be setting off when it vibrates.

The translation is gorgeous-- thank you for championing the Wii's outlying beauties. : D

Yes the rumble feature is over sensitive, but I'm not sure it's related to the motion plus, since I have both an "old" and "new" wiimote (with and without motion plus), and the problem remains.

It's a shame that some games weren't tested enough for developers to see that issue : I had similar problems with House of the Dead Overkill (which makes you reload almost everytime it rumbles over a zombie), well anyway... the rumble might be a nice addition, but these games are much more enjoyable when turned off, so...

Thank you very much for your comment on my translation, it feels particularly good when coming from native English speakers.

Have a nice sunday !
