Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if these types of questions are welcome here but I'm new to all this.

I used ChoiDujourNX to update my firmware to 9.2.0 using this Youtube guide ().
I did everything the same (just used my desired firmware instead + SX OS 3.0.0 BETA) but instead of clicking ExFat when it came to installing the firmware I instead just clicked on 9.2.0.

This resulted in my Switch now taking a long time to boot and then giving me an error that I need to do a system update in order to use my Micro SD card. I can't access the homebrew from the Switch anymore since the card isn't being read at all.

Anyone know what should I do?

EDIT 1: I booted my Switch into Original System (official Nintendo one) and updated it to 10.0.4. Now the Switch reads the Micro SD card but I can't get into SX OS menu even when I hold Power + while booting. Any suggestions?

First, never use YouTube guides. They're often wrong and/or out of date.

As for the problem, you didn't install exFAT support. Either reformat your SD card as FAT32 or use a different SD card that's on FAT32 to reinstall the update with exFAT support.

Reformatting your main SD card as FAT32 is highly recommended, since exFAT is a lot more likely to cause corruption issues anyway.

Wish I waited for your response. I booted my Switch into Original System (official Nintendo one) and updated it to 10.0.4. Now the Switch reads the Micro SD card but I can't get into SX OS menu even when I hold Power + while booting. Any suggestions?

Did you enter RCM and push the CFW payload?

Oh, man the jig! Yeah, everything works fine now. Latest SX OS, latest firmware at the expense of a few burned fuses (I guess?).

Thanks for the support. I always go paranoid whenever something unexpected happens with homebrew.

If you're using CFW, it is recommended that you use 90DNS or Incognito to prevent being banned. The fact that you were able to connect to Nintendo's servers to do an official update suggests you haven't done this.

You should also backup the contents of your SD card and reformat it as FAT32 in order to avoid corruption issues down the road.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
