I'm having an interesting problem I'm wondering if anyone might have some insight on. It seems my external HDD (a WD My Passport Ultra 1TB) is only being detected by the above two homebrew apps and nothing else. Any other application will throw out a failed to mount error (for example, OSC's Homebrew Browser) or time out... or in another case, WiiFlow, which doesn't allow me to select the USB drive as a source. This is really interesting because in the past on the same Wii and with the same drive, I had problems getting it to work with USB Loader GX occasionally but never a problem with WiiFlow. It seems something has changed but I don't know what it is. I've tried rehacking which is what got USB Loader GX working properly. I'm using d2x v10 on 250 and 251 with base 56 and base 57 if I remember correctly. Appreciate any advice anyone might have.

It has maybe to do with the Power Management/Sleep Function from the HDD.
What I have noticed,you do not use cIOS249 ?
Maybe it has also to do with that. Many Applications for the Wii "expect" an cIOS 249 (Base 56) for correct working.

Would you be so kind and can you check it or please post a sysCheck please,so we can see your cIOS Setup is ok.:)
Maybe it is really only this "Thing".:)

Thank you.:)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can also check your HDD with the WD Tool (I think it is called "WDSmartware" or "WD Discovery" or something like that).
If it was not included, you should be able to get it from the WD Homepage.
There should be an Option "WD Drive Utility" with an Option like "Never" for the Sleep Timer.:)

I think I do use 249, I just mixed up the numbers. It's 249 and 250, not 250 and 251. I'll run a sysCheck soon.

Your sysCheck is ok,nothing unusual.:)

I am pretty sure you use Port 0 for the HDD on the Wii:
index.jpg

If you use the latest Release from the USBLoader GX (v3.0 r1272) please try:

- Settings/Global Settings - Loader Settings - Loader´s IOS
If it is set to 58 please try 249 and restart the Loader please.
If it is set to 249 please try 58 and restart the Loader please.

If that also not helps, please use an older Release - r1268 or 1271 are good Choices.

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Thanks, but my problem isn't with USBLoader GX, it is with other USB loader applications (WiiFlow, CFG USB Loader) or other things that access the HDD such as the Homebrew Browser. Also, yes, I have the HDD in port 0.

Excuse me,that was my Mistake.:(

Can you please tell me all your Applications, that not work ?
By the Way,if your HDD is formatted with NTFS or WBFS,many Applications did not work. They need FAT32.

On the Homebrew Channel, when you press "1" on the Wii Motion Controller, can you switch between SD Card and USB Device ?

Thank you.:)

Drive is formatted to FAT32. It does not appear to work in HBC menu, it just reverts back to the SD card apps. Updating WiiFlow Lite to the latest version from here fixed my problem with it. So now my known problems are with CFG USB Loader (which I don't really care about), the HBC Menu, and Homebrew Browser initialization.

Nice to see,WiiFlow works now.:)
Did you maybe use the v70 r78.11 Mod for the Configurable USBLoader ?

For the Homebrew Channel, honestly I have no Idea why it does not work.
Did you tried to boot into the Wii System Menu first and then via Channel to the Homebrew Browser ?
Or did you boot it directly (via BootMii or Priiloader ?)

Your Homebrew Browser is from here ?

Thank you.:)

Yep, that's the version of CFG I have. Don't worry about troubleshooting that too much, I don't use it.

I don't know why the HBC isn't working right with my drive either, but I do boot it from the System Menu.

Homebrew Browser is the version found there, yeah. What happens when I boot it is that it attempts to mount the USB drive then fails, but continues to launch successfully. I'm guessing whatever problem this has might be the same thing that is making the HBC fail to show the apps on the USB drive.

Please check if your HDD uses GPT Partitions instead MBR.

I am pretty sure yours is GPT.If yes, that is your Issue.

Thank you.:)
