Gaming Anyone know any apps that scan your system and games and just automatically applies best settings

PC is definitely my preferred gaming platform but I am also definitely a tech noob sadly. The only bad thing about PC gaming is 99% of games have like a 1000 different options in the graphics settings and 99% of them I don’t even know what they are.

A friend of mine said to download Nvidia Geforce Experience when I asked for a program that just scans your games and system specs and just automatically sets the best settings for best graphical performance… and was so simple even a an idiot like me could use it.

This is what it looks like now when I run Geforce Experience… I have no idea what to do now. Does anyone know any youtube tutorials that explain in easy-to-understand ways how to work it… or another app that does exactly as I said – scans your system and automatically applies the best settings to your games and is also super easy to understand and use?

Simply click on the game's boxart and hit the "Optimize" button. Literally as simple as that.

Not sure why you have duplicate lists for games though, are you perhaps using any simlinks somewhere that links wherever your games are install (Steam, Origin, whatever) to another folder for easy access?

Anyways, in most cases, games will simply automatically set settings to be "optimized" for your config (or will have a button to do so in the menu), so you shouldn't really need to change much unless you know what you're doing regardless.

But, TBH, I think you should simply learn what the settings are and what they do. duplicates are due to a bug in geforce experience in scan locations, it doesn't add the final \ which for some reason can cause the duplicates to show up, no clue why but whatever.
Anyway if you don't want to do it manually for every game, open geforce experience, click the little gear icon for settings, click on games on the left and then check "Automatically optimize newly added games".
Then I guess you could remove and readd libraries and scan for games

Also its (nVidia experience) decisions are questionable. They basically give you a lowest common denominator of 'best'.

F.e. if a game supports FXAA and better (but more performance taxing) AA methods, nVidia experience almost always will just pick FXAA. Making a game look worse than it has to.

On a game where there is one option thats especially taxing on performance (like hairworks on Witcher 3, or highest level foliage on GTA V) it never knows that by compromising on that one setting a little, the entire game will perform better, or other settings can be pushed in exchange.

Its the lazy interns version of 'best'. So useless for any game, you want to spend many hours on. Imho.

Just start learning what the most common options across most games do, and start from there - imho. Its not that hard, and ultimately gives you better results.

Nope. AMD kinda had something similar but killed it off because it was garbage and no one used it.

It's really best to just learn the few settings yourself, or just test your framerates by toggling things on and off repeatedly.

The reason I want to use an application that does this is because I have games on my computer that don't have settings menus or editable settings files, and I was hoping such programs could edit the settings for those games. There is no way for the player to turn things off or on, change the resolution, choose windowed or fullscreen, or even change audio settings.

If there's no editable settings file, then an application like this wouldn't work anyways. It's how GeForce experience works, it simply analyzes any editable config files and applies any necessary changes as is.

If a game is so poorly developed that it has no editable settings whatsoever, then there's not really anything you can do about that.

Darn. I was hoping to get to play Q: A Dystopian Queuing Simulator at full speed. I swear, none of those Unreal Engine 4 games on Itch have editable settings.
