Hardware Nintendo Switch charges at .43A but will not turn on.

Bought a broken V2 Nintendo Switch off ebay. It's as if it doesn't detect any eMMC. I tested with other eMMC and same result. I know another wont work but was hoping I would at least get a different result.
It will not power on and seems to go into RCM mode when you power it on.
It charges at 5V and .43A.
I can not inject any payload as it is patched.
I have replaced LCD connector
USB-C port
M92T36
PI3USB
BQ24913
Main Fuse
I do not find any shorts on the board when I have tested.
M92T36 pin 5 I get 3.2V Pin 6 I get 3.2V
Any help would be appreciated!

Check the onboard emmc connector for continuity and corrosion

Those kind of issues are related to the p13usb check your alignement of the chip.make sure its flat on the board

Before I do anything with a v2 I contact Nintendo. Most are still under warranty. obviously that changes once you start changing components but it's something to think about in the future

It should still appear to look like it is ok enough to go in under warranty. I am just going to sell it on ebay. I tried all I can do. This is the first one I ran into I couldn't repair.

I'm not entirely sure I agree with that? In my experience the PI3USB controls the multiplexing of DP over USB Type-C and USB3 connectivity. You can actually remove the chip and the Switch will still function via the onboard LCD, only docking is impacted.

A few comments.

I agree swapping EMMC will not work as they are hardware paired with the TEGRA. A different EMMC will give you a black screen as the TEGRA cannot mount the boot partitions.

You say it seems to be going into RCM, but can you actually confirm whether the RCMGUI tool registers RCM mode? This will work whether the device is patched or not. This will confirm whether the TEGRA's bootstrap processor is at least firing up.

Are you using the official OEM charger or a phone charger?

Can you put a scope on the tuning crystal beside the PMIC to see if you get life there? I had one switch with a 0.42A charge state that turned out the crystal was defective.

Can you put the EMMC into another non-patched switch and see if an EMMC dump works? That would test whether the EMMC was at least functioning?

Finally, if all else has failed, there may be a new route to get a CFW up and running with SX Core based on what I'm seeing on YouTube. Might be worth holding off and fitting their mod and use that as a way to better interrogate what's going on?

Ok, tried to measure crystal resistance which is about 17 MOhm on al my three boards i have so it is probably ok.

Ok, tried to measure crystal resistance which is about 17 MOhm on al my three boards i have so it is probably ok.

Best would be to put a scope on it and measure the output. If you are comfortable removing it, then that would be a quick and easy check.

Actually you shouldn't need to take measurements. Simply remove the crystal, noting orientation and then see if you get any noticeable difference in behaviour. If no change, then re-fit.

Are you sure? because I fixed 2 or 3 units with no power but charging at 0.4 by changing the p13usb. (they actually had at least a small cap shorted)

Yep. It's discretely controlled by lines from the M92 and the TEGRA. Now if the chip is damaged and is "shorting" a rail, then it can impact other parts of the system, however removing it will still allow boot and the internal display to work. Hope that clarifies.

I've not investigated an issue like this before, but you may want to investigate the theory that the max17050 fuel gauge IC is playing up here and causing boot to fail.... there is another thread on this site that discusses it.

I've not investigated an issue like this before, but you may want to investigate the theory that the max17050 fuel gauge IC is playing up here and causing boot to fail.... there is another thread on this site that discusses it.
