Developed by V1 Interactive, a team of 30 founded by the co-creators of Halo and SOCOM: US Navy SEALs, Disintegration is an upcoming FPS sci-fi shooter releasing for PC and consoles. On top of having a complete single-player campaign that lets you command your own crew, the game also features not one but three multiplayer modes. The developers released a brand-new trailer today, providing further details as to what to expect out of these multiplayer modes:

Disintegration
launches this June 16 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One and is available to pre-order.

I appreciate them trying to make something unique, but it's so visually bland and slow that I can't get excited for it.
Also, judging by how kooky fun their avatars are this looks like it was designed solely to be a microtransaction machine. Nothing wrong with that, get yo money boys, but I'm not into paying to look cool like every game wants me to these days.

I imagine I will probably just end up back on Battlefield 4 if I want something like that but I am curious to see what they make of it.

While nobody is currently starved for another traditional FPS game, this at least seems to be going more toward the vehicle combat route. I do miss vehicle maps from UT2004, and even the Master Chief collection is kind of a bummer in multiplayer for KB+M players, so hopefully Disintegration can somewhat fill that niche. I'll keep an eye out for reviews.

Compared to something like Battlefield (and given the game modes they pimp in that then I am going with comparison is apt) that seems more like just some heavy character classes than out and out vehicles. There are no extended ranges, crazy power differences, changes in types of cover, much of a counter play strategy for your team (team sizes also seemed on the smaller side) not too much of a movement challenge or any of the other things that often make vehicles in such games almost an extra skill to master.
Maybe it was just a trailer and they chose the most dynamic shots from a test session but I did not get a vehicle combat feel from that at all really.

Well, the trailer opens by calling you "pilot," but could be the standard "soldier" is a mech of sorts in itself. I suppose the whole sci-fi coating at least sets it apart from something like COD:MW and other currently popular FPS games regardless. If the gunplay is consistently solid that's ultimately all that matters for an online FPS, so I'm taking a wait-and-see approach to this one. The developers have some impressive resumes, at least, and it has the potential to be a good mix-in between my CS:GO sessions on the new monitor.

I feel like their impressive resumes should have been used for another shooter akin to SOCOM. Those games were phenomenal. I played one of the PSP ones and just got lost in its multiplayer. This seems... Meh.. I'll wait until more gameplay comes out before I make any judgment. The video really showed so little.

Also, how deep were the Co creators of Halo in developing the first game.

Anyone remember Socom? It was one of Sony's main selling points for online, then it died a horrible death, are these devs part of the originals, or the last atrocity which was released under that name?

I'm not really one for sci-fi / shoot someone a million times type of games personally, I like more realistic games, but I'm sure there will be plenty will give this a good try.
