It's interesting that in this entire thread, aside from the "it happened to my friend" comments, we only have one confirmed user reporting they were banned, and they were doing the worst possible thing by visiting other users while on CFW. I haven't seen any reports from users being banned from editing memory, editing saves, or anything else yet. Many people are saying if you edit your save you will be banned, but I don't see anything reported yet. Do all these things bring a risk? Of course, as we don't know what Nintendo looks at for everything. But still the concept of being banned for anything other than VERY obvious hacking appears to be not as common as people "say" it is.

played with local on cheats enable? wow that sure sounds x20 times risky from what i was thinking, i was going to use your codes to spam objs, drop them, close and open game with no cheats, and then pick everything as i go to my island from my ofw switch.

and yeah, considering what's going on with nookazon, it would be quite a backlash

yea honestly i did it the slow way by transferring but now i wanna edit my island with infinite items on. ive honestly been doing this since 1.1.1

better safe than sorry i guess like well you know how it is, i dont want also a glitch due the codes, but anyway you are also the creator of the codes. i might try doing this to bring some nml, wood and gold on my island.

Not quite a ban, but I noticed that if I used my legit copy of the game on an unmodified Switch Lite to visit someone's island on a non-legit copy of the game via local multiplayer, no rare fish or bugs would spawn on their island. If I then flew to someone else's island on a legit copy of the game, rare fish and bugs would appear again.

That's a game feature, not an issue.

You have to catch a certain amount of bugs and fish before the rarer ones will spawn, for example, you need to catch 100 fish before you'll ever see a coelacanth spawn. You flew to someone's island who had under 100 bug catches, then visited another one where the person had over 100 bug catches.

Ah, that makes sense. I guess this prevents someone from creating a throwaway island on the opposite hemisphere of their main island using a second console/copy of the game and then harvesting all the rare fishes.

I know the reason I was banned, I was visiting peoples islands from my switch running CFW.

I did make sure to use the cheats only on my island thinking that might lessen my chance of being caught.

I was using the edizon overlay.

Guess I'll have to go back to trading locally and selling from my clean Switch

Your overlay was probably on while you were online. When you try to connect locally with someone certain cheats cause an interference with other players. I've seen it online

as far as I know cfw doesn't get you banned

I dunno I head people going online fine without a ban. I haven't visited any islands with cfw on though I always switch back to ofw when I connect to the animal crossing servers as a precaution

Nintendo doesn’t ban right away though, it’s common that they can be banned 3 months later.

I have a question. Would I get banned for giving myself all the Cherry Blossom DIY using the "Edit OFW Clean Switch save data from NAND backup" method? I already edited my save but I'm so scared to inject it. Plus, Nintendo has been real quiet since the last update and people are going crazy with dupe glitches/hacks and stuff. I feel like a mass ban is gonna happen after the next update.
