Hi!

So here i have GBA cartradge and a Nintendo DS lite. I noticed GBA screen size of GBA games are phisically smaller in viewing area. Its sharper picture since resolution of DS lite screen is buigger compared to gba, but gba games on DS has black borders that i disslike.

I know Game Boy color game screen can be streched on GBA, but how can i stretch GBA screen across entire NDS screen so that gba games actually looks as big as actual GBA console screen?

Any way to hack original DS or DS lite? or something to do?

I also have EZ-Flash IV card, can ez do something to make screen of gba games fit the DS screen size?

As far as I know there's nothing you can do with games run from slot-2. However, scaling is being looked at with GBARunner2 which is a homebrew that let's you play gba games from your slot-1 card or SD card. I am however unsure if scaling will be possible on the base DS systems.

The DS has slightly bigger resolution than the GBA but not by much, the black borders are there so the aspect ratio remains pixel perfect. Even if there is a way to fill the DS screen the result would not be good looking, the graphics would look pretty weird. So even if it is possible ( maybe it is through Card 1 emulators, i don't know) you would soon realise it is not worth it.

an option would be nice though....
If its bigger, its worth it. Screen is just to small.

I am not aware though if there ARE ways to play gba games from slot 1..is there?
Also i only have gateway and its R4 clone i guess... ez-flash 5 (slot-1 card), dstwo, ez-flash4 (slot-2 cart).
idk what can i do with them...

There is an old emulator called tempGBA for the Supercard DStwo that uses it's extra processor in but I don't think it has scaling options. Here is the link I could find:

Edit:
I just noticed, If you have a Gateway then you have a 3DS, why not use your 3DS instead? You can install injected GBA games in CIA format, its not emulation and it scales up the whole screen. It's actually one of the best ways to play GBA games these days.

No i dont lack a ways to play GBA games, i have real GBA SP, and i do have injects, but i would like to use my DS lite to play gBA games.

And thanks for the link, ill see it...but its an emulator though...

Ok good luck, but I did say from the beginning it was a slot 1 emulator and an old one at that. I don't think it scales anyway...

A DSi XL might be a better option for you then. They're easy to hack and install CFW on now, and can run many emulators. GBARunner2, for instance has come a long way. The problem with the DSi is there is no AGB_FIRM to put the system into GBA hardware mode like the 3DS can. So your best bets are an IPS-modded original GBA or GBA SP and an EZ-FLASH Omega/Everdrive GBA, or VC injects with a N3DS. (N3DS is the cheaper option of the two, but modding Gameboys is very fun and mostly solderless these days)

You got a good chance of buying a used one and asking the seller how often they used or even ask for a Pic of fw and telling them not to update
