Yeah, it's not even the first standalone app that works with your forwarders when Flycast standalone came out it worked too although it's obsolete now. MelonDS however did not launch the game it goes to rom menu but PPSSPP works fine. Just manually enter the path to the ppsspp.nro. Like for me it's /switch/ppsspp/PPSSPP_GLES2.nro
Well I appreciate the information, i suppose I could add those the the cores.xml. Play could have its uses so maybe if it doesn’t work natively I could work on that first

I keep getting a "Access to the path 'keys.dat' is denied" when I open the application.
I thought that the problem was with the user permissions so I gave myself full control over the whole "Resources" folder and I also gave full control over the application itself. Tried running it as an administrator, but still no luck. It launches, but when I try to compile anything it gives me the same message. It's probably some really obvious miskate, but I can't figure it out.

Any advice?

Is it open in anything else already. Maybe try making a copy of it and set the location to the copy in the settings menu for custom path

It isn't open anywhere and making a copy in a different directory and setting is as the custom keys path doesn't work.
It gives the message on launch. Deleting from the Resourses folder and leaving the custom path still prompts it, as well as deleting it and not specifying a custom path.

The very first time I lauched the application I named the "keys" file to "keys.txt" and I got no such message on launch, but when I tried to recompile a Retroarch nsp it gave me some other error, which I can't reproduce now, because I can't even get that far :D. I tried again and again a few more times and on one of the launches it showed me that message. I thought that I should rename "keys.txt"to "keys.dat" in hope of resolving the issue, but it didn't. So here I am now.

Can you try restarting your computer, unusually you should only see that if the said if is locked by another process or permission issue. Not sure why it’s causing issues for you tho.
Any chance of getting this to work with melonds and launching roms directly from an NSP?
You could try changing the core path to path the the other of the melonds path and then the rom to the rom path. Some users have claimed that it’ll work with some standalone apps but not sure yet which ones as I haven’t personally tested.

I have restarted, but no change. I had no issues on a different machine running Win 10, but the one I'm using is a Win 7 and it's a 12-year-old laptop. :/

Anyway, thanks for the quick replies. As long as I have a computer that can work with it I should be fine.

Okay, if you find any more information regarding it let me know and see if I can figure it out.

Hey Thanks for the Video Tut, I really enjoyed it. I noticed you had to manually add a core in the test box. My can edit the core.xml in the resources folder to add it to the app. If you do change it then send me the updated version and ill include it for now on. I kinda lost track of available cores. Also might start linking people to the video for help with understanding the app!

cool. that was the virtual jaguar core. A lot of people come to my channel asking for help to use this. I think even the people who do know how to use it don't realize couple with sys clk editor you can oc homebrew. Lastly the fact that it can do custom paths is also very useful. I hope this helps people with some of the questions they have about your wonderful software!

So launch retroarch from hbmenu and update the cores from within the retroarch app
got it to work but I updated the cores manually and remade the nsp. Strange that the cores didn't update when I replaced the files in the retroarch folder with the latest version initially.

Update your .nros or cores you’re forwarding to. There was changes in 9.0.0 and all homebrew needed to be updated. Hbmenu had a temp bypass fix

i have this problem with PNES , when i forward it , the buttons become unresponsibles, and the nro is updated to the last version

greetings

Then it may be possible it was never recompiled for 9.x.x. You could grab the spice and try and compile it with libnx. There is not really anything in nro2nsp that does anything with controls.
