Feels like some are using Coronavirus as an excuse to stay at home or close shop temporarily

Apple has announced: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/14/cor...l-stores-outside-of-china-until-march-27.html

And there's a post office I visited which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and yet.. it's going to close because of Coronavirus. Bruh, really? They've really gone deep in to the scaremongering by the media (it's all they ever talk about these days). Good thing the post office wasn't closed as I had a parcel to ship, and it was.

my wife works in a A&E department, she now has to wear a mask and a face visor for ALL patients even thou the hospital has a I.D department who deal with the Coronavirus cases. Very soon things are going to get a lot worse.

I work for a legit essential (not luxury) business. Problem is, we still need to work inside homes. My kids school is shutdown and I took leave from work to care for the kids now. My wife is able to work from home, so she can’t really watch for them during the day. I live with 2 at-risk aside from my family. I can NOT continue to go in to peoples houses and possibly get the virus and bring it home to these 2 at-risk people. Sure I’m instructed to ask questions before I enter the home, but am I supposed to trust them to tell me the truth? So they even know if they are infected? I don’t? What about where they work? Do they work at the mall? Just can’t risk it. I think everyone should stay home. Healthcare workers, though, my heart goes out to them. This is a very uncertain time and we all should take caution. Would’ve been nicer if Donald took action sooner, but thats a different issue.

I have an essential job I was even given a note for my car that tells police that it's ok for me to be driving because I'm required to go to work unlike most others.

Nothing should be shut down. In order for society to run nothing should stop. Too many people are scared, too many people are lemmings. No one should be scared of death over their personal freedoms.

It shames me to live in this world anymore.

The theory is simple enough. If everyone (as much as possible) tries to isolate themselves from other people, the virus will eventually have no new hosts to infect, and will virtually disappear. In a perfect scenario, it would take about 2-3 weeks, but we're far from a perfect scenario, unfortunately.

We do not live in a perfect world. Nobody should be expected to "house arrest" themselves for 3+ weeks!

It's depressing seeing people picking losing their freedom for which people have died for if they themselves fear death, pain or virus.

Let's put it this way... would you rather suffer house arrest for 3 weeks, or you'd rather risk your health or the health of your loved ones? This is a temporary situation. It's shitty, yes, and nobody (that currently walks this earth) has ever seen something like this, but one day, it's gonna be over.

I will just have to repeat myself. This is not a thing to play down. yes most people would be fine except those that have complications would most certainly die if we went business as usual. Hospitals are already running short on supplies. Imagine what the scenario would be if we just ignored this thing? people scoff at the 2% mortality rate. Italy has hit nearly 8% now.

I'd rather risk a bullet to the head for one inch of my personal freedom then ever have my freedoms or anyone else freedoms infringed on. I can't love someone (even family) if they themselves do not value liberty over death as all persons that live in the free world.

You are selfish and take our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms for granted if you EVER think it's worth being under forced arrest if one had done nothing wrong. IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO BE SICK!

No one is stopping you from going outside, getting infected, infecting your family and dying. One less idiot on this planet is always good.

So is anyone who has ever died for their beliefs/freedom and what they thought was the right thing, were they all just one less idiot?

You wouldn't really die though, worst ilness you've ever had, sure but it'll be gone after. You'd know if you already have pre-existing conditions. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's ok to just do what you want and put the less fortunate at risk of fatal conditions, but the death thing to everyone isn't really realistic.
