Be careful, after updating PART2 , I no longer have access to my chips anymore..even if I follow the right instruction by double clic reset button in payload update
The chip still work like a charm, but no longer accessible
This REALLY should not be the case at all.

The UF2 bootloader is standard, with a couple of memory option added, to choose which straps to drop.

There is no possible way you can be truely locked out.

You can:

Long-press VOL+ for around 30 seconds, wait for white flash, power off console, power on, reconnect.
Double-press RESET as usual
Even if the chip is BRICKED SOLID, eg you have erased 0x00000000 to 0xFFFFFFFF you can always bring it back with openocd / SWDIO.

Something HAS to be slightly amiss your end. I`ve tested on Windows, Unix, that Mickey Mouse OSX, even tested mass-storage drive on AmigaOS with varying degrees of success(don`t ask. Drunk and bored.)

@mattytrog

Using v5 of Fusee_Suite successfully.
Now I have bought an USB PD Car charger so kids could play and charge. When I connect it I think the chip is constantly pushing payload and usb straps are triggered because volume is going up in horizon OS.

Is this a known issue?
Is there anything I can do about.
Anybody using a third party USB PD car charger?

Ps: the charger is stated as compatible with the switch.

Thx

Something is causing it to bootloop.

This could be due to your car charger supplying inconsistent current / voltage. Is it very wobbly in the socket in your car?

A fix would be to:

Disable USB strap, by dragging and dropping part 2 again, then as soon as it is copied over, disconnect USB so the strap isnt detected.

If it is a widespread problem, I can alter the polling for the strap, or change it to analogue read with a voltage threshold.

Easily solvable in code, but want to rule other things out first.

If your charger is not providing consistent power, this could be very damaging due to current / voltage fluctuations going across the power detector in M92T36, resulting in fried M92T36.

Not saying it will happen, but it is possible.

If this is the case, then the SAMD chip has probably saved your M92T36 by warning you in this way.

Thanks as always for the detailed description.
Tried the same at home with another third party USB PD charger. On this charger the issue is not here.

Seems that I should get an other better car charger.

Is the any car charger which is proven to work with samd/Fusee-Suite and charges during playing?

Thx a lot

No idea.

I can change the code for next release, like I say. But it is warning you (in a way) of spurious currents / voltages entering your console.

But a code fix would be curing the symptom, not the cause.

The inconsistent voltages will still be there, just hidden, leading to possible damage in your console.

You need something regulated. Something that won`t drop like a sack of shit the moment some juice (current) is being pulled from it.

You need something providing constant current and minimal volt drop.

Probably Anker maybe, if they do car chargers? My car has built-in USB so I cannot advise really on the type of charger you need. Apart it should have excellent current / voltage regulation.

Yeah, I don't think it's good to 'hide' the issue in software. At home, where the issue isn't there, it's an anker 5 port charger with USB PD.
The car charger are cheap Chinese PD charger from AliExpress.

I think I will try to get an Anker Car USB PD charger.

Thanks anyway for saving my switch from the bad charger attack [emoji23] Fusee_Suite for president.

lol! no need for thanks!

Thats why the testpoint is there is the first place. We just exploit it as it helps us, with modchip fitting too.

As a sidenote - all the consoles I have EVER modded - in the multiple hundreds - All the ones I have ever repaired because of poor USB chargers have ALL been unmodded consoles, without exception. I have yet to find a modchipped console that blows M92T36 due to poor USB charger design. The theory is that the Trinket is absorbing the hit.

Hyperbole / Anecdotal, maybe. But it is my experience.

The Anker car chargers on Amazon look really good. Just make sure they are genuine Anker.

Good luck sir!

ok, its done.

Now how should i proceed if i dont have the vol+ strap? Should i mess with any settings? What options do i have? The main post only refers to switches that have the vol+ fitted, could you make a small area describing how should we (people without vol+ fitted) proceed? what options do we have? That would be amazing!! Because in the guide, sometimes it is confusing to understand what features are only available on the vol+ ones.

Also as nExNihilo said, im not being able to access the chip anymore via double click on the reset butoon, I had to push the Samd21_Update.bin first. Is this intended?

I will do. It involves hex editing. I haven't filled in the hex editing section yet.

But I'll be working on a comprehensive write up this evening.

Basically, there are variables in the UF2 which we change

Good morning @mattytrog, I have my chip installed for a long time and I constantly update it with switchboot, and it works perfectly, it injects the payload without problem, but in the last update it generates problems with usb installations, and I have to go back to an old version and it works without problems, you know what it can be?

Is the Part1 here majorly different than for Switchboot? Because I am making a custom board and want to make sure I can make one that works for it as it has no usb attached but otherwise is similar to a m0

Hmmm... Will investigate. I haven`t noticed anything different here. Will check it out. Thanks!

hey matty, I finally redid the install on my personal console and took the opportunity to update from Fusee_UF2 to Fusee_Suite; just wanted to say you still are, and continue to be, the man :yay:

Glad it is working for you, sir!

Fusee Suite has an extra register in it, as well as some detection code, so dual-boot / perma-CFW can be changed without reflashing the bootloader.

Fusee Suite will work without reflashing part 1, but as you would expect, changing between perma/dual-boot won`t be possible.

Added colour change offset table to OP.

Change your bootlogo to Gameboy!

See OP post 1 for details.

Looks like Hekate 5.1.2 is out. I used your older software for my modchip and now even with the new hetake bootloader folder on my sd card I still see Hekate 5.1.1 in the upper left corner. So I guess I need to update my chip's software to these new part1 and part2 files. I've tried these on two chips before and one flashed fine, but the other wouldn't show up in windows after flashing part 1. I tried resetting it and everything.

Any idea what it could have been? Don't want to have to replace this chip, but I would like to use this new 2 part suite.

Hi everyone,
I've modchip Trinketto v0 and i switch to cfw pressing power and +.
Now i have hekate 5.1.1 on trinketto. I don't understand, how can i use fusee_suite?
But is it necessary install fusee_suite? Because i have also the payload of hekate on microsd .. or, for example, i can stay with 5.1.1 on trinketto and update only payload on my sd card?

+1 i used the UF2 from the switch boot post.

but the hekate is still 5.1.1 on there, and im not sure who the DEV is to look for their repo, its in the ''backups and modchips section'' its the second pinned post
