Announced in September of last year, during a Nintendo Direct, was a definitive edition of the cult classic Nintendo Wii JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles. The game has just received a rating via the South Korean ratings board, which previously leaked the existence of XCOM 2 and Catherine: Full Body ports for the Nintendo Switch. With Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition getting rated, it likely means the game is close to finished, meaning we might hear an official release date announcement soon. All we know for certain right now is that the game is set for launch in 2020 for the Nintendo Switch.

Ugh. I couldn't stand this game, some of the most boring, predictable and by-the-numbers JRPG's I've ever played, with an unusual combat system being the only redeeming factor. Hard pass.

I wanted to like it because it was from the xenogears guy, but I couldn't get into it either.

It's a good game for sure, I liked it quite a bit better than XC2. Still, it's almost ten years old now, and it's not as if this is a ground-up remake like Trials of Mana, they probably just sharpened up most of the textures a bit. $60 feels too steep for a game that continues to play best on an emulator. It might be a different scenario if there weren't so many other big releases coming in March, but I'll have to wait on a sale for this one.

I probably don't intend to, it's just that I've never actually bought the game before and I want a physical copy for my collection. Then again, the Wii version of the game has dropped in price considerably on eBay since the Definitive Edition was announced, so I might just go that route.

I have played thru XC2 twice. Torna once and XC twice (once on Wii, once on Dolphin and I tried the New3DS version but it was too blurry for me, I still got pretty far tho)

I am hoping for new content tbh, this would be the second time I BUY the game and the 3rd time I beat it

I have this on my WIIU .. & I got stuck in for quite a few hours.. & it's definitely a cool game .. Alas I didn't get far enough to where you fly the mech thing .. Fun I might have to dust of my old WIIU and give it a spin again

I think I should give this game another chance. I played the Wii version for a bit and I liked the art style, the music and the setting, but apparently I am unable grasp the battle system. It doesn't resemble any other game I ever played.

The repetive (English) shouts during battles are a bit annoying, too.

Are you talking about xenoblade 1 or 2? Because 1 art style is bad, it's so simple because it's done by the programmers not the art designers.
As of combat in 1 is not complicated as 2.
Trust me the first time I played it like the first 5 hours I said to myself "wtf is this shit? It's lame" after the first 5 hours "holy shit this game look amazing" and after 100 hours "best JRPG game ever made".

Actually the first few hours is kinda boring, I too was about to quit the first time I played it on the Wii, but it keeps getting better and better the more I play and the gameplay becom more fun, and if you like stories then this story is crazy.
I played a lot of JRPG and for me XBC1 and XBC2 are the best, even much better that xenogears.
