Updated with my translation dumps for Ore ga Omae wo Mamoru and Vampire Knight DS, both of which have been sat untouched on my computer for months due to a lack of time.

At this moment, I can't say if/when I'll be able to pick them back up. (For anyone curious about my other projects, life willing, I WILL release a completed version of Gurren Lagann at some point! Regrettably, everything else remains uncertain.)

Days of Memories. I don't know what the technical challenges of it are, but I figure either someone with japanese skills could do it or someone using OCR translation could do the basic translation, alongside a proper transcript so we can at least have a pass at an english version of those.

@linkenski Which Days of Memories game do you mean? On GBAtemp there are two separate (both unfinished) translation projects for 2 and 3, and nothing for the first game.

For DOM2, it appears takeya_yuki lost her script and subsequently all her progress. DOM3 was started by WataruKun, who is now banned, and although there was a rudimentary tool by azerty1, that has since been lost. (I've never been able to make contact with azerty1 despite several attempts). So, it seems that for either game work would have to begin from scratch. (Although I've only been able to do a limited amount of digging so do correct me if you know of anything else! ^^)

Ideally all of them, but personally I would pick the second game first because thatst the one that had some of my favorite KOF characters represented. If I had the tools to start trandlating I could probbaly get a rough, slightly mistranslated but comprehensive first pass done in a couple of weeks. Just for one of the 3 available stories in the game.

Added Luminous Arc 3 to currently recruiting projects on request of the lead! Just how long that thread has been active for is proof their incredible motivation and determination to get it finished. Coming up to the new year always makes me think of unfinished projects. May 2020 be their year!

@linkenski Although I can't view takeya_yuki's profile to check, I have reason to believe she's still active on here so I've sent her a message today (10/12/19) asking for info about hacking/tools. ^_^

Chi's Sweet Home has been added to patch only releases, thanks to @jonothan.stevens for providing a backup of the original download!

@Plasmaster09 Added!

I know there's quite an active base of Puyo fan-translators on tumblr, although I can't speak for whether this might be of any interest to them. Everyone involved in the project on the linked forum seems to have long since left, but some of them do appear to be active on other platforms!

I wasn't able to find out too much about the differences between the different versions, so if anyone can provide any insight, do let me know!

*replying to the post that added me but I'm new so this site won't let me actually quote you for some reason :( *
Thanks. I've been getting back into emulation lately, so I've been trying to find translations for the Puyo Puyo games on DS. I know that 7 and 15th already have working ones (made by the Puyo Nexus wiki guys, no less) and 20th has one (that not a single flashcart firmware has support for :( ) but I also know that Fever 2's never got finished so I decided to comment on it.
Also I checked the link and it appears they're working on Chronicle and almost done. Huh- I figured it'd take eons to fully translate a 3ds game.

I can help with translations. I live in Japan. I do translations for an anime-subbing group and I collect raws for others. I can work of just dumps of the Japanese texts, but it's better if I actually play the game, so I can get context (makes for a much better translation).
Let me know if you need any help. I have no experience in game dumping or patching though.

@Rosa2709 Please see the text in red at the top of the first post. If you’d like to make a request in the official thread, note there’s a set template you’re expected to follow. :)

--
To clarify in case it was unclear, this is NOT a list of games I’m currently working on. It is a list of unfinished projects from different groups, some of which may still be active and looking for help, others may have long since disbanded. If you’re interested in helping with a specific project, I suggest checking out the various links to find out more about when it was last updated/getting in contact with the original project leader.
--

@saishowaguu2 There’s normally two main ways of getting into translations projects, the first is finding an open project that interests you and volunteering, or the second is starting up a thread of your own for a game you’d like to work on, and seeing if it gets any response. (The latter having more varied degrees of success.)

If it’s anime games in particular that interest you, feel free to send me a PM! As an anime enthusiast myself I keep a close eye on active projects, and can also tell you a little bit about a team that I'm involved in which specializes in them :D

I don't really have a preference for the type of game. Just looking to help out where I can.

Since it's been nearly a year since I first expressed interest in it here I feel like it's worth noting that I'm still working on Cross Treasures, life's just given me quite a few obstacles and it's been very, very on-and-off.

Maybe I'll make an actual thread soon, but I kinda don't see the point in doing so before it's finished and I'm ready to share since it's kind of a solo project and all. ^^;

@AZealousIndividual This is such lovely news! I was wondering how things were going :lol:

I think having a thread is a nice way to let people know the project is exists and share updates on its progress, but if things that feel like 'milestone moments' enough to post about are few and far between (and lets be honest, work on these things takes a lot of time, even when life isn't getting in the way), it can feel like it's better to wait and make a surprise release thread instead of having one that goes silent for long periods of time.

I ended up deciding to try and stick to making a bi-monthly update on my tumblr as a regular 'it's not dead' post :rofl2: But don't beat yourself up about having periods when you just don't get a lot done. Time is the enemy of all fan translation projects! All that really matters is that you keep picking it back up with the same 'zeal', and hopefully keep getting the same joy out of it!

By the way, were you able to make progress with getting image insertion working, or are you still looking for help with that?

Truth be told, I've kinda been putting that part off and haven't looked at the images a whole lot in months. ^^;

There was a discussion about the less-common file types I found in one of the old threads starting around here, but sadly the screenshots (and thus a lot of the details) are missing. I'm still not exactly sure where they differ from their +r equivalents beyond the header and some other metadata (like this footer from an ncg file isn't in the ncgr files):
JI1KnXf.png

But while Tinke can view and export the non-r files as images, it can't import them, so I'm still not entirely sure what to do on that end.

Interesting...

Unfortunately I was never able to make any progress on trying to track down Takashio's old tools, but you can view some of the images in the old thread using the wayback machine if that's of any help.

What version of Tinke are you using? If you grab the one off ROMhacking.net I believe it's actually a little outdated (0.8.1), the latest release is 0.9.2, but I have found that there are some occasions where the older versions will work where the latest doesn't, and vice versa.

If it comes down to it, you might have to post some help wanted ads around the scene. I'll make a note on the first page that you're looking for help too. Sorry that I can't be of more use.
