why the sudden authority to shut down sites, get nerfed nintendo.
This obviously means Nintendo is finally going to release NGC, Wii, Wii U, NDS and 3DS all on the Switch!! : D

Yeah, right. I wish.

Goodnight sweet prince, I swear I had all staff positions on that site over the years
Really? And you still weren't told any of it by other staff members? Discord is usually used for communication.

If at least Nintendo released them on the Switch or whatever, it would make it worth it.

You and Nintendo might see it as just piracy, but this is also a way to preserve old media from becoming unavailable. There are songs from musicians very hard to find because they were published on Cassette and finding those Cassettes to rip isn't an easy job. Or even cheap.
Isn't preservation still piracy?, I feel like companies would rather have their content to be lost forever than letting anyone preserve it and have it readily available for free

I wish at least companies would start preserving content themselves and ask a fee for accesing said content, this way nothing would be lost

I wish they did that so fans wouldn't have to spend money keeping the files active online and thus, we'd pay the companies themselves to download it whenever.

Ah Nintendo.
Being the pieces of shit they are, of course they were gonna do this.

No loss though, the most active users which submitted Switch games on the Umbra site are still active on other places.
As for Wii/WiiU/3DS, yeah the ISO sites are a great loss, but there are still plenty of other places to search them from.
This is exactly why, in a world of capitalism, socialism and communism is required at times, to balance the fucking assholes companies like Nintendo can be.

You still lose, Nintendo. :)

They won't get a cent from me until they learn to treat their fans with respect.

I mean it sucks, but I wouldn't say this is truly a shitty move on Nintendo's part. It's a pretty damn understandable one really.

Oh it is understandable for sure.

What's NOT understandable is that they put too much effort on bringing down ROM sites when 90%+ of the fucking library of each console is not even available in any current format.
That's what's stupid and shit move on their side.

If current day corporations offered a Steam-like system to legitimately purchase (and emphasize PURCHASE, not a fucking rental system) ROMs/ISOs from old consoles, this kind of shit wouldn't happen.
It's as easy as that. Have an online list of games you can purchase, and you get the legit ROM out of it so you can use it in whatever emulator you chose. Does that sound too hard?

But you know, they are so up their ass with their IPs and being the greedy fucks they are to even bother about such a thing, because at the end of the day the fans (and the hands that feed them) can go fuck off while they simply grab money.
Fucking greedy assholes they are

I get how frustrating it all is. But at the end of the day it's their platforms to do with what they please. If they want games to disappear indefinitely, that's their choice to make. We can pirate and combat the disappearance of titles, but I don't believe its necessarily a noble cause.

Greed isn't a noble cause either.
From my point of view, backups are the lesser evil here.
