Have you seen the Sonic the Hedgehog movie yet? Share your thoughts!

After a tumultuous first reveal that led to weeks of disappointment, memes, and internet outcry, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie managed to revamp Sonic's design to look more like the character, which was a blessing to most peoples' eyes. Making sure Sonic actually looked Sonic-y, however, pushed the movie back from its original launch, out of 2019 and into 2020. Now, the time has finally come, and the film is finally available to see in theaters across the world. Have you seen it yet? Will you see it yet? Will it rival the likes of Detective Pikachu for acceptable family-friendly video game movie quality? Or will we be putting its Bluray on the shelf next to Super Mario Bros. (1993) and every Uwe Boll video game movie? Since it's launching (in the UK and USA) on Valentine's Day, are you treating your special someone to 99-minutes of Sonic-related hijinks? Let us know how you liked it!

Sorry I thought you meant was there going to be a streetfighter film. Ha ha, you know just how really bad it is then! especially Van Dammes early acting days, erghhh!! :ohnoes:

I thought the first mortal kombat film was quite good.

Early acting days? So 10 years of acting and about 15 movies prior the Streetfighter one is "early acting days"... OK.

From what I've seen, most people give it about a solid 7. Not sure I'll check it out in theaters unless I have nothing better to do in the moment, but I'll give it a watch when it comes out on blueray.

Jim Carrey is probably the best known actor they could get without using too much money.
He is fine to portray a mad scientist, perhaps he will get fat in the sequel, if any.

It was bad. There was so much about the Sonic movie that was bad. The little flashes of good don't really make up for every single joke falling flat. I was genuinely surprised by the delighted gasp from the audience when (spoiler) appeared at the end. I think I would have preferred a story taking place entirely in the world of Sonic instead of the insipid, generic buddy comedy that was played out in our world. I really can't recommend it to non-super fans or adults.

Saw it advertised on a bus but I doubt I will make my once in 5 years trip to a cinema to see this one. I will however be comparing it to the good Sonic cartoon if I ever go get around to seeing it.

Unfortunately there is a Streetfighter movie 1994, it stars Jean Claude Vandamme and I would say that’s the worst adaptation of a video game ever made!
Is it a particularly good adaptation of the Street Fighter story/universe? Not really. Is Street Fighter 2's story particularly worthy of note? Also not really, though they still did not particularly do it justice.
Worst game adaption? Not by a long shot for me. It is a cheesy film but I can happily watch it (how can you not like Raul Julia's M Bison in that?). The anime film is probably better still but I will take cheesy over mid-low tier anime. If we are doing super nerd points then the Hong Kong "our lawyer says it is not street fighter" film Future Cops is good stuff too.

Compare any of that to Legend of Chun Li, Max Payne, half of Uwe Boll's game adaptation oeuvre (some of it is vaguely amusing enough to watch once or twice), Alone in the Dark, Need for Speed or that recent Doom effort (the first was by no means good but it had its moments, this I absolutely despised)... and it is not even close.

Knuckles appears in the end credits along with a shadow teaser
Thanks for spoiling it for everybody! Now we don't have to go see the movie! :rofl2:

Just kidding. Seriously, I still want to go see it, but I have other plans today. I still think Jim Carrey is a bad choice for Eggman, though. He doesn't even look like an egg!

The movie was actually really good. My fiancee was NOT looking forward to it at all but admitted she enjoyed it after. For someone like me, who knows the Sonic lore pretty well, I was disappointed that this movie didn't take any of it into account but instead went with an original story but by itself for what the movie was, it was funny and very enjoyable and I'll be getting the Blu-ray (fingers crossed it includes a bonus with the original Sonic design just for lolz)
