Don't use borderlands as a check to see whether an overclock is crashing your system. That game is the most unstable piece of trash to ever hit the system (a nice idea, but the vita was never going to powerful enough to work properly). Any crashes on borderlands can be attributed to literally anything.
You know Boarderlands 2 got alot of Flack on Vita .. I actually thought it was a great handheld fps.. I finished it years ago on my vita ..... But yeah most open world games can crash .. Skyrim . 3ct

(Game Overclocking Crash Fix)

"Lost Child" CRASH about 2 hours using lolicon on 500mhz.max settings. (haven't tested current version)

"Lost Child" CRASH about 4 hours using PSVshell on 500mhz.max settings.

(right after game crash in some instances, a trophy popup would take place) (or at same time, I don't think a trophy was actually unlocked either, just never checked!)

unlocked all trophics using, "google", adding trophy files for that game to ux0, and etc. the game crashes were not always at 2 or 4 hours .......... unlocking trophies fixed crash? probably so. Other game I can think of is Danganropa 3, has reputation for crashing.

(trophy unlocks crashing games probably effects a whole bunch of games on vita!)

Hmm the Trophy thing could be a issue I'm still using LOLicon 500 atm but I have not played the Vita for more than two hours recently simply because I'm busy at work... But after reading this.. & the other comments . I think I'm going to grab that PSVshell . Hopefully it's on the Autoplugin app

Only been using PSVShell to overclock Retroarch but I've had zero crashes with it. Had a ton of issues coming out of suspend mode with the other one. That said I'm not playing games for 4 hours at a time.

(PSVShell seems to load adrenaline a little bit faster, the suggestion was to enable "high memory layout" from the vsh options inside adrenaline)

(did play PSVShell the game "Lost Child" for more than 4 hours with no crash, with all trophies unlocked.............after about 5 hours with PSVShell on MAX SETTINGS no problem..............going to take the time to unlock all trophies (for other games on the vita/pstv) (by just adding files to ux0) (going to do another long play today, gona try for 6 or more hours and consider fixed)

I think Lolicon has 5 options you can "OVERCLOCK" and PSVShell only has 3 options you can "OVERCLOCK"................its possible LOLICON is causing conflict with plugins.............i #tand corrected because, I alway though that LOLICON's vsh/graphic menu was causing the freezes.

I though long time ago, to fix lolicon a sound plugin for volume would do the trick, but gave up on the idea that lolicon could benefit from another plugin.

PSVShell it is & Thanks you really did a fine job of explaining the situation & you clearly know your stuff ... Respect For Your Time and Efforts .. I'm switching to PSVShell right now .. I will test it & report back

pstv @ 1080i for 4 hours "the Lost Child", with all trophies unlocked, no random crashes, but the enemies for about 3 fights did not load they were missing on screen before game crash. (after the 4 hour mark, I when to to the "loading screen" about 10 times before seeing missing enemies before game crash).

just for a note will try on 480p for 4 hours "the lost child", probably tomorrow and consider "PSVShell" best option, on max settings. (Danganropa V3, is the other one, and Borderlands) (expect the same result, but that solves it, the handheld vita plays at a lower resolution on any settings this may be pstv specific, already using minimal plugins) Goodluck.

(maybe this is true for the raspberry pi 4, when the official release is out, have to remember to do a test like this with dreamcast, a known memory mucher)

EDIT

"version 1.02 the lost child "fixed skills acquisition bug"

If you use the item that cost 10,000 for to help gain skills, and just nest in a battle without using attack skills, after a dozen or so skills the game will crash in under 2 hours, with normal play. i think this adds to the trophy bug thing.

noteworthy because its not the overclocking program causing the crash or memory leaks, the game does those on retail with no mods/hacks too - just deleted the game from my vita, but it was fun crashing it

So when it's talked about overclocking I always see people mention 444mhz and 500mhz, so thats CPU speed, what about gpu/bus/xbar ? I installed PSVshell should I just OC the CPU and leave the rest as is, or should I adjust the rest as well ?

Since it hasn't been mentioned before, you can also try the plugin Thread Optimizer.
Though it can only help with performance if your game actually is multithreaded.
I've checked up on Stardew Valley because of its slowdowns and it's pretty much 90% single threaded.
Though bumping GPU by 50mhz with PSVShell boosts fps when it's raining from 44 to 60.
And bumping CPU clocks helps when it lags because of too many sprites (high grass).

Mine is 3.60 on PSVshell constant 500 never crashed.

Pros to PSVshell:
-never crashing
-doesn't have creepy incriminating name (beware my loli plugin)

Cons to PSVshell:
-name is extremely confusing with unrelated essential utility "Vita Shell," I am so confused, I don't know what's going on, what am I doing, now your pants gone and you are under arrest after such confusion.
