so i bought my nintendo switch a couple weeks ago and have not updated it and wont, but is there a jailbreak coming out for the patched nintendo switches? cause if it takes 4-5 months or even a year i can wait cause games are to expensive for me hoping at least in the future i can jailbreak my switch and it is on a 3 year warranty so i cant just sell it and get a used one

There's been some rumblings about Team Xecuter coming out with a modchip not sure if it applies to firmwares so high. Otherwise nope you're out of luck.

damn that sucks guess ill have to put my switch up in the closet for now

Sell it and get another one despite your warranty. Once the mod chip comes out your warranty is voided anyway since you have to open it. From the money that you would sell you will break even with the used unpatched switch

Dont look for a softmod that isnt going to happen.

today is the chinese new year, and in the last news oin the modchip, they said it would come after the chinese new year, so i would wait a couple o months to see if any news or reviews come out. if the mod chip is solid, as in future and feature proof, maybe it would be best to wait....

Team Xecuter has shown a video of a Switch Lite booting their CFW, using a modchip. They claim to also be able to work with patched switches.

There is no confirmed release date, but they have said "early 2020" and that the first shipment will only be "after Chinese New Year."

So if you're willing to pay for their solution, you could possibly have it in February. Of course, there are no guarantees, they could keep delaying it, or it might just be a hoax. But with both the video as well as leaked pictures of the modchip, there's a pretty good chance it's legit.

If TX does release their solution, you can be sure that other people will try to reverse-engineer it. So I doubt it would be too long before somebody comes out with a DIY, open-source solution using a Trinket M0 or something similar. Question is how long you're willing to wait for that.

In the meantime, I doubt there's any point in trying to maintain a low firmware. I'd go ahead and go online, download and play a few of the free demos available, maybe get a Switch Online membership and play some Fortnite, or buy some of the cheaper indie titles.

I doubt the OP is going to open his system he is looking for a softmod since he stated his warranty is for 3 years and when you open it this will void the Warranty. To my best knowledge dont quote me on the numbers but maybe less than 20% have a hard mod vs the regular jib combo.

Just enjoy your switch, can't really be worried about the future since no one know what will happen.
I feel like since its a hardware mod that SX is making it will probably work on all firmwares , but like everyone else im just guessing.

Live in the moment, play your switch.

If I remember correctly, SX OS mentioned something about a solder less way but it won't give you the 100% performance.

I mean the chip doesn't even exist yet so no one can say exactly but obviously a modchip is going to involve soddering your system so unless you're good at that you would probably want to pay to do it. But like it's been said in this thread it will void that warranty that you're worried about as soon as it's opened. You're better off just selling the one you have and buying a used unpatched switch but it's your system.

Ok well maybe it doesn't need soddering but if it's not 100% performance there's no point.

Yes, you'll definitely need at least some basic soldering skills. You can very easily fuck things up if you do it wrong.

If you're unsure of yourself, your best bet is to sell your switch and buy an old one. Because I highly doubt there's going to be a softmod for your Switch any time soon, if ever.

What? If you have an unpatched switch, it doesn't matter what firmware it's on. Even the newest firmware works. If you're trying to use Deja Vu you can have a patched switch and then it needs to be on those low firmwares otherwise it doesn't matter.

And I don't understand why you're paying $600 when they're $300, you got royally screwed. You should have just saved up $300 instead of doing that. That being the case you would lose hundreds selling it and rebuying one used.

He said he got it from MDG, a consumer financing company. It's still a bit high, but if I'm not mistaken I think he bought a bundle that included the Switch, Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey, along with some accessories made by PDP.

So he's paying $600 for about $420 worth of stuff, $30 a week.

Even that being the case he could have saved $30 a week for 14 weeks and come up with $420 and bought it outright Instead he will be paying $30 a week for 20 weeks. That's $180 down the toilet just to have it in your hands now. He's paying the $30 a week anyway just for a lot longer and he's talking about putting it in his closet waiting for a hack.

I know people are all about instant gratification but I think people should be smarter with their money. I'm not singling out OP most people are that way I've just always tried to be smarter if I can't afford something I save up for it instead of paying ridiculous interest.

Some people finance video games I dont agree with it. You are better off just charging your credit card but OP try to return it.

Thats a shitty deal you can buy 2 switches with what you are paying

I'm going to assume OP has bad or no credit at all otherwise he wouldn't have even considered this "deal". But if nothing else just save the money and wait and buy it interest free.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.

i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
