I've seen a few people ask how to remove parental controls when they don't have the pin, or on a firmware that requires the device ID to get the master key using the mkey.salthax website.

Well, I made an app that can easily change the pin for parental controls just by pressing (A)!

Thanks to WerWolv for suggesting just using pctl functions to change the pin, it was a much simpler idea than I originally had in mind

Version 1.1.1:
  • Fixed crashing on fw 9.1.0 when trying to change the pin.
Version 1.1.0:
  • Option to delete parental controls in-app by pressing (X).
  • Option to unlink the parental control mobile app from your account by pressing (Y).
Version 1.0:
  • Initial commit.

I'm not sure I agree with releasing something like this, as a parent. You are backdooring security parents are setting to control what their kids can play. This has nothing to do with nintendo security, and everything to do as parent security. As a parent, screw you :rofl2:

Heh I understand your point. However there are much more dangerous apps hb apps out there that don’t aren’t locked with parental controls.

So if that child has access to installing apps, they can do worse.

the worry isn’t bricking, the worry is playing games and content you don’t want your child to play. Sure the child could Brock the switch, it before this, they couldn’t play mortal kombat. I use parental controls on my switch.

there is really no other use for this, but to bypass parents locking down the devices.

This probably explains 90% of the 404's for broken download links on xbins haahahaha. The other 10% is when (every single time) atmosphere posts a new release and then recompiles the build like 30 min later to hotfix something.
Yes, I think it’s standard to wait a few hours after atmosphere posts a new release. There’s bound to be at least 1-2 silent releases pushed

Maybe you’re right. I didn’t really think of this when I made the app.

I love where this thread is going. All a bunch of parents pissed that this can be used to bypass their authority :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

You guys are forgetting your youth! Bypassing authority is what the entire hacking scene is about :teach:

Keep up the solid justice.

You have kids?

Thanks! Looks like this might be what I have been looking for. I've been looking for a way to quickly fully disable parental controls, then reenable it again. Parental controls have to be fully off in order to use date switching tricks in Sword and Shield.

Edit: The app is crashing when I try and change the pin. I forgot that when I set up my EmuMMC I had the parental controls synced to the phone app. I think that is causing issues now. Any idea how to disable that on an offline switch?

Hi mate, thanks for reporting back.

I did not test with parental controls with a linked account. I have a new build that can delete the parental controls without having to mess with entering a pin etc. Would you mind testing this for me to see if it fixes your problem?

The two new options are (X) which will delete parental controls and (Y) which I think should remove the pairing for the mobile app.

EDIT: If this doesn't work for you, i'll try my unbanned switch tomorrow (which is linked to the parental control app), need to buy some foil to get it into recovery mode :D

I tried the unlink and it worked. Nothing changed on the screen but I could see it was unlinked when I exited and went to settings. You might want to add a notification to let the user know it did it. I then tried deleting controls and that worked with the same lack of a message as the unlinking. After that I reenabled parental controls and tried changing the pin and it crashed again. So maybe the crash has nothing to do with the linked account. I'm on 9.0.1 on atmosphere 10.1

Pretty much. Because it's hard to be with your kid and try to see what they play... x3

Also note sure if this is helpful, but I tried the other tool for this purpose, pctl-shooter and it was able to reset my pin without crashing. Your tool still crashes me when I try and change pin.
