OK... I changed the timings slightly. Forgot to put in OP.

Anyway, you know how you changed from dual boot to autoRCM or visa-versa?

Well... Keep holding. Other rapid blinks follow. Let go on the one you want.

1) Hold down VOL+. Nothing willappear to be happening chip-side... Keep holding...

2) LED will light... Keep holding...

3) LED will rapid blink (this is dualboot / autoRCM switch)... Keep holding

4) After a few more seconds another blink(this is for payload1.bin, payload2.bin selection)...Keep holding

5. Next, you will see yet ANOTHER blink, just like in step 4... only this time, we need to let go DURING the blink.

OK...You have let go...

You will see small blinks counted out...
1

then 2 blinks

then 3 blinks etc...

Blink 1 is Black, non-animated
Blink 2 is Black animated
Blink 3 is Red non-animated
Blink 4 is Red animated.

Hit VOL+ on your chosen "blink".

Done.

thx a lot. Now i have a red anmiated logo.
Sadly i noticed some small issues with this.

Enter prebootloader (interrupting boot):
in previous versions when you held power button down, there was a message to release.
I can hold it as long as i want, and after release -> i was in pre bootloader.
with v4 (i think), that changed -> now you have to release the power button precisely on the "release" message.

Issue 1 With (red) animated logo:
When the red animated logo is active (didnt tried with black animated), its really hard to get into pre bootloader.
When i hold PWR the logo is shown, the countdown begins and on 2-1 the switch powers it off!
Thats not the case with the NOT animated logo, so it seems there is a wrong timeout (maybe the animation time is missing)?

Issue 2 With red logo:
On the info screen, the background of the text is red, which is really ugly and hard to read.

I am back at the oem black logo for now.
Keep up the good work

Thank-you for testing!

Yes. I did that, for the only reason to (force is the wrong word)... to "encourage" people to let go...

A scenario...

You have Hekate / Nyx as "bootloader/update.bin"...
You have Hekate autobooting just the way you like it...

If you hold down VOL- for a update.bin override, you have to let go, otherwise Hekate autoboot will be cancelled.
That said, I`ll look into it, to see what can be changed.

Yes. I noticed that... My options to fix are to change the PWR button for another one (losing a shortcut override), or reduce the timeout by a second.

It isn`t a bug, its the MAX77620 PMIC that controls that.

That is why the animation is interruptable. If you touch a key, animation stops and skips...
Or, press power to power on, let go, then hold PWR during the animation...

Arrrrghhhhh!!!!!

Thought I`d DEFINITELY nipped all those in the bud. It is now just using a global value. So I`m struggling to see where it could be wrong.

Daft question... You are definitely using v5_030120?

The issues you describe are for last nights version.

Thx for your detailed answer (as always :-)) and looking into the minor issues.

I am using v5_020120 downloaded this evening, is there a newer one?

Thx

I want to make a video showing how you do the extra VOL+ settings. With annotations.

But I don`t know how.

Anyone tell me a good place to start?

I'm no expert but how's about the video feature on you're smartphone and then host it on YouTube or Vimeo

I used to have a really sweet one of my white shell and trinket mods you did for me but my account was shutdown for copyright/trademark bollox.

@mattytrog tried 030120 and the red background on the info is gone.
I cant select the animated red logo, just the static (blink 3 -> 3 or 4).
The other minor issues remains.
I can live with that, thx a lot

The YouTube app its self allows you to do this (on iPhone). Once you have uploaded it you can go to YouTube studio (on YouTube site) and add in the annotations etc

I know Matty won't mind, he's the nicest member on here.

There are user's of all technical abilities and confidence using these devices and might be new to these chips. Even though I myself have been around hacking/modding/phreaking scenes a loooong time I still am very forgetful and have major problems concentrating so I find it helps me to write my own little notepad files.

With that said I wrote this for myself to help me remember, it may or may not help beginners with their newly installed Trinket's

My personal setup is Atmosphere fusee-primary renamed to payload.bin on the root directly auto booting with no required button press. SX OS named as payload1.bin on the root of the card and finally the latest Hekate inside the bootloader folder named as update.bin

Fusee Suite V5
==============

Press power and hold until screen tells you to release button to enter chip menu
Press power and it will load payload.bin from the root of card (currently AMS fusee primary)
Press power and hold vol + to load payload1.bin from the root of the card (currently SX OS)
Press power and hold vol - to load bootloader/update.bin (currently latest Hekate build)

To flash a new Trinket UF2 file
-----------------------------------------

Press power and hold until screen tells you to release button to enter chip menu
Press vol + button to enter the menu
Using vol + and - buttons navigate to SAMD21 Update Mode
Flex the back of Switch twice (slightly left of center) you will see a flashing red light through grill
Plug usb c cable into both laptop and Switch - this will open a window on the laptop
Copy the latest UF2 file into the window, the window will close, disconnect the usb c cable
Hold the power button for 12 seconds to fully power off - Job done !!

Nice guide Pete!

Think I`ll retire Switchboot Hekate mod now. Isn`t really needed any more as all Switchboot mods are included in Fusee Suite now.

Will use your guide in OP :)

Yep nice shout on retiring Switchboot, Fusee Suite is so much more convenient and nicer in my own opinion and yes I'd be honored to have my beginners guide in your OP :)

Hopefully one of the global moderators will stick this thread now @Cyan @porkiewpyne @FIX94 (please guys)

sorry if this is a dumb question.... if I want to update from an older UF2 file, and I don't have VOL+ strap connected, can I just skip file 1 and drag/drop file 2?

You can use the SAMD21 update payload in the Switchboot thread. Send that via TegraRCM or whatever, then double-press reset on chip.

Might put V6 out today if any takers...

As usual - no need to update unless you need to...

Changes:

  • Faster and more responsive buttons - changed button polling to be faster and erm... more responsive.
  • Couple of new boot animations added (nothing fancy - one based on actually currupting the logo during rendering, and one that "wipes" the logo on the screen... Wondering how to best implement it. Do I do it with a button press on the chip? Or hex-edit the UF2?
  • Screen dimming after a timeout (sleep backlight, Android-style - wakes with a button press)
  • Change background colour of animation to any RGB value you like (via hex editing - offsets added later)
  • Change logo / text colour of animation to any RGB value you like (via hex editing - offsets added later)
  • Much smaller size. Finally got round to BLZ compressing some other assets that were worth compressing. Colour of graphics is decided upon decompression
  • Tidier "button" graphic asset... Less intrusive

Looking for translators - Adding versions for different languages soon. Any languages people would like to see, let me know in thread.
