@mattytrog V4 working as expected, noticed that if go to browse, then go to any menu, that when pressing back it doesn't go back to the previous menu but rather that boot loader, is that intentional?
it also hides the text and just see the battery icon and SD status (rather than seeing info/browse), have to press blindly to get it to show text again (hope that makes sense?) both VERY minor, but for a noob its not the simplest for my snowflake generation haha

(PS, not a fan of the bootlogo, purely because I have a red Nintendo logo to tell me its in EmuMMC and seeing the black one confuses me that I'm booting into stock lol)
Regarding returning to bootloader, yes. That's intentional. I have even done a red (with white logo) Nintendo boot screen boot screen. I couldn't decide which to include. Both are same size. Basically fill framebuffer with 0XFF0000(RED) and place white transparent logo over it.

Can knock up a red logo version for all chips if it would be good?

I'm knocking up a version with red boot logo. Might put in an animation too(logo moving from to downwards to centre). Any takers?

nice in red, animation is great IMO

@mattytrog if you have time, I have some questions :
  • UF2 mod ins only for updating part2 ? Everytime I put my Trinket m0 in this state, I can only see part2 file...
  • when part 1 and part 2 are correctly flashed in the Trinket (original USB plug still soldered to the board), is it normal that we can't see the Trinket in UF2 mod under Windows (or any OS) ?
  • Is a Trinket m0 brickable ? When updating mine yesterday, I had the good idea to try to update (in UF2 state) part1 (bootloader) after part2. Since then, screen stays black, trinket's light is red, USB is not responding, I can't put my Switch in RCM mode (RCMLoader dongle, TegraRCM or Rekado) and I can't boot anything (except by keeping Trinket's reset button pushed, then I can boot official HOS).
  • Is there some top secret recovery mod to erase everything and restart ? Ideally from a computer (I'm gonna re-solder the original USB plug)...
ps : I updated part2 only two times, and everytime I have hard time to put it in the correct UF2 state...not really user-friendly :gun::switch:
so I think I made a big mistake...

As I bought 2 trinket (in case of emergency), I replaced the dead one with the second one (so my Switch works again), but if there's a little chance to revive the first one, it would be nice :grog:

Thanks for all your hard work.

OK...

You are slightly incorrect regarding the UF2 file.

You only need to flash the part1 once. It does not get overwritten.

No, Trinket isn`t brickable (at least shouldnt be, if using my files).

It is showing red, because you are flashing part 1, then part 2, then part 1 again.
Or
You have a poor solder joint somwhere.

USB (SWITCHBOOT) will only appear if it can be seen, for example, use the update uf2 mode.

As you can see, I'm not really familiar with that chip. I thought I had to update part1 and part2 because I wasn't able to access the pre-bootloader after updating only part2 :glare:
So I had that wonderful idea...I should have read carefully your thread (hold power > wait countdown > press Vol+ or Vol-, I was trying to use Power + Vol+ like with hekate switchboot mod)

I will try to put it on my Quest Switch, and reflash/restore part2. But I already tried it at least one hour yesterday, without any success.

Can I use TegraRCM to inject the update payload, even if the chip is soldered to the USB lines of the Switch ? I can't use Trinket's reset (does not do anything), obviously I can't keep Vol+ for 15s, I don't have a lot of options now...

Yes, Your console just needs to be in RCM mode.

I'm confused on 1 point, needing clarification please. I've read and re read the original post and read through our private messages but still find myself confused on the dual boot side of things.

Allow me to briefly explain....

I have all straps mod with the latest V4 suite installed, payload.bin on the root of my card which is fusee primary renamed because I currently only use Atmosphere.

I also have an SXOS licence and would like to have the option of choosing to load it when I power the unit on, this is where I become confused.

Is it simply a case of renaming the SXOS file to payload1.bin and then when I power on the unit I press the volume + button OR is this wrong and I must hold power for 3 secs and manually load the SXOS payload through the payload launcher ?

I hope I've explained myself clearly enough as I'd confuse the smartest of people lol.

Thanks in advance.

thanks for all your advices. I have finally found a way to boot hekate mod by injecting it with TegraRCM (my Switch was in autoRCM, much easier), then used hekate to boot sam21update payload. I tried first to inject directly sam21update.bin, with no luck.

Now, I will not play with part1 anymore. Lesson learned ! :teach:

Don`t worry Pete.

Fusee_Suite is not meant to do that. the idea of Fusee Suite is to boot the first thing it finds.

Allow me to explain further...

When we select a payload in Hekate to autoboot for example, that payloads path is written to a txt file. An ini file actually which is called hekate_ipl.ini. Or you select it from the menu ort add it yourself or whatever in Switchboot.

Fusee Suite, I`ve made to purposefully avoid with messy ini files etc etc. So to do what you suggest isn`t really in the scope of Fusee Suite.

Fusee Suite would pass control to Hekate, then you deal with your payloads in Hekate or whatever.

All Fusee Suite does is manage the battery, to stop popping BQ24193s when batteries have ran dead flat through being left in autoRCM...
and manage those permitted filenames that Fusee looks for (payload.bin, payload1.bin and bootloader / update.bin)

That said, I think I know what you want to accomplish...

Something like this...

Scenario:
autoRCM (emmc based or chip-based)

POWER starts fusee-primary
POWER and maybe VOL+ to launch SXOS?

If this is what you want, it isn`t a feature Id put in right now. I`m trying to keep this REALLY simple with no complicated button presses or whatever. If people want to get technical, they can.

Having said all that, I`ll knock up a special version for you as soon as I`ve finished uploading V5 that will launch "payload.bin" as standard (fusee-primary) but if you hold vol+ while pressing PWR, "payload1.bin" will launch (this would be SXOS). I`ll set it onto red animated bootlogo. I`ll message you when its done.

Thanks for taking the time to reply with a detailed response and YES sir that is exactly what I would like to achieve.... I know this project was meant to minimalise things and I think this is a great idea but adding the option you've described would be super convenient...

Thank you for considering this option :)

Thank you so much Matty :)

Do I need both of these ?

TRINKET_ANIMATED_VOLPLUS.UF2

TRINKET_STATIC_RED_LOGO_V5.UF2

Once confirmed by yourself do I need to flash 2 parts or just the 1 file ?

TYIA
Just one.

The volplus one is what you wanted I think sir

@mattytrog The 'special' version of the V4 Suite seems to be working flawlessly, I've flashed it and for the time being just used the latest build of Hekate renamed to payload1.bin to test the volume + feature and it works perfectly - I cannot thank you enough, once again you've come up trumps - just like my team tonight with another 3 points on the board.

Gonna set it up with SXOS now as originally intended

Btw the red animated screen looks beautiful, I totally love it

Thank you so much for everything :)

Hey @mattytrog, I'm really digging the red splash screen to differentiate the type of booting. A few minor things:
  • The text on the info screen has a red background while the rest of that screen has a black background. The info is still readable, though it's a bit harder to see. I'm guessing that's a byproduct of the splash screen implementation. At your leisure, any way to get that back to black?
  • I think this was previously mentioned, but if you go into the + menu and back to the main screen everything but the battery and SD card icons is missing.
  • Super duper minor, but you mentioned you would fill the framebuffer with FF0000, but the Nintendo Switch red color is E60012. Any possibility of using the Switch red here?
As always thank you for the work you put into this stuff for us!
