I have followed guides and tried CRTtransfers but nothing seems to work. My 3ds is stuck with the message:

"An error has occurred:
Unable to mount CTRNAND or load the CTRNAND FIRM
Please use an external one.
Press any button to shutdown"

I am unable to access 3ds home or recovery mode. I cannot update my 3ds in any way which has stopped me from being able to follow some guides. Nothing users comment seem to help at all. Please help I have been working at this for hours and I just seem to be unable to do anything. I am able to access Godmode 9.

Hi thank you for responding. Unfortunately with my newbie status I cannot post the link and for some reason I am unable to copy and paste the guide as the forum will not allow me to post it even though I took out all links and anything that may be deemed inappropriate. Can I pm the guide to you? It was written by a prominent member on this forum: TurdPooCharger.

I found the guide by typing into google my error message and it was the first result.

I attempted multiple CTRTransfers but they would never change anything. I followed that guide exactly. I have also attempted NAND back ups and restorations but this has resulted in no change.

@alexander1970
There is a more in depth ctrtransfer you can try if the normal one fails as well as other steps to try, I don't have any guides for that on hand but @TurdPooCharger I believe is the one always copy pasting that guide in threads where people need help and since he wrote the guide you used he would know better than anyone how to help you.

Yeah I followed his guide, and when that didn’t work I followed his guide for the type 9 CTRTransfer. I feel completely lost with this. Also his guide requires people to access Home menu or recovery mode to perform system updates but I cannot access those menus. I cant even complete @TurdPooCharger guides.

I think this thread is already on its way to dying. If anybody who can provide assistance is reading, please help. I have been working at this for ages and I just don’t know what to do. I need some help.

Hows about instead of whining ya simply wait. espcially for more than a few hours. Check out turds userpage. He was last seen dec 15th. So that there says hes busy with real life stuff right now since it is the holiday season. You are probably gonna be waiting a few days or a few weeks. Go find something else to do in the main time.

I know people are busy with Christmastime and I don’t expect immediate responses. Ive just seen how threads in these types of forums and from past experiences, I see them die often and fast. Im not paging TurdPooCharger, Im just hoping that someone with some past experience or a little expertise could drop a quick comment that may help me out. Maybe instead of being rude and unhelpful like that to someone who is just asking (not expecting) for help you could move on and forget about this thread. Because that’s just not helping anybody.

I only used the @ because the member above me used it. I was not going to but I thought it was fine if he did. I don’t want this thread to devolve into an argument between me and you, as I am hoping someone sees this thread in the future and can help. There’s no need for unhelpful comments.

@Cheggu, if you get this late reply, can you verify if this is the error message you see when trying to boot HOME Menu?
An exception occurred
Processor: ARM11 (core 0)
Exception type: prefetch abort (svcBreak)
Fault status: Debug event
Current process: menu (00004003000008F02)

Standard and (Type D9) CTRTransfers doesn't fix this because there's no way to selectively discern which user data files are corrupt. It has to be done manually.

Hi TurdPooCharger. Thank you for your reply, I am very grateful, and I am sorry for my late response. I have not seen that error message before, and I am a little confused when you say "boot HOME Menu". When I said I could not access the home menu I meant when turning on my 3ds I was greeted with:

"An error has occurred:
Unable to mount CTRNAND or load the CTRNAND FIRM
Please use an external one.
Press any button to shutdown"

Where would I see the error message you have referenced? Is there an alternate way of forcing the home menu to boot that I am unaware of. I am unable to go into recovery mode for some reason, so I can not rely on that.

Thank you,
Cheggu.

I am pretty sure I have B9S installed, I could be wrong though. My console is from Australia so I guess it's running the EU version.
With a ds flashcart that supports ntrboot you can't really ever brick a 3ds. You can boot gm9 using ntrboot and just restore a nand backup.

  1. Turn on the n3DSXL and hold the (SELECT) button to access Luma3DS v#.# configuration.
    • Use these settings; only select the (x) Show NAND or user string in System Settings and nothing else.
  2. Press (START) to exit luma configuration. Your n3DSXL should boot in SysNAND.
  3. If you are still experiencing Unable to mount CTRNAND or load the CTRNAND FIRM, repair the 3DS firmware with CTRTransfer (Type D9) v1.5.
    • Read the Instructions.
