The release date for Final Fantasy VII: Remake is fast approaching, and PlayStation 4 players will soon have the chance to play a reimagined version of one of the most popular JRPG's of all time. However, the game won't be just a purely PS4 experience, as shown by a newly revealed boxart for the game. At the bottom of the game's cover art is a banner, denoting that FFVIIR will be a timed exclusive. This has already previously been hinted at multiple times throughout the game's development, from the initial reveal saying "play first on PS4", to Xbox Germany claiming that the game would release on the Xbox One (later having the statement walked back as a mistake). What is new, and relevant from this cover, is the timeframe of when Final Fantasy VII: Remake could be headed to other platforms--March 3, 2021. Square Enix still hasn't confirmed that the game will be headed to any other platform, at this time, but there's a decent amount of options as to what fans could expect. Previously, the company brought Kingdom Hearts compilation titles to the Xbox One, and has a history of porting Final Fantasy games to PC, showing support for both platforms. Considering the date, it could also mean that we may see Final Fantasy VII's remake make its way to the next generation of game consoles.

The fact that I was in high school when this concept was first announced concerns me. Most games that take this long to come out almost always end up showing the lengthy/staggered development process. I really hope this is a great game and not another decade of wasted hype.

I really hope that’s the case. I’ve been around the block long enough to have witnessed way too many decade long developments turn out extremely mediocre as a result. At the same time, I am personally excited to actually see this finally happening after waiting since tech demo.

7 is the best but mostly its the first final fantasy on the playstation 1. Many that bought the playstation started with this game and it was ground breaking.

Glad it's not an exclusive, this game deserves to be played on a fully spec'd machine. Still going to wait until it's fully complete before touching it though (hope it's not more than a 12 year wait).

The PS4 pro can outperform xbox one and thers hardly any difference between machines so just another silly comment and to hear someone say wait is just ridiculous as why wait as we all kno what happens in ff7

he means a fully spec'd PC. xbox1s and ps4pro are both inferior to a fully spec'd (and of course, more expensive) PC.
it's not a silly comment if his vision is to be able to play FF7 with the full speed and graphics (and possibly mods) that a powerful PC can run.
