It always bother me that I can't get S rank consistent enough, is there any cheat or mod for that? Also cheat for no losing money when dead in shovel knight as well.

Does getting top ranks unlock things or allow a branching path or something? If not then it seems a bit like cheating at virtual solitaire (in real life you end up with a nicely ordered set of cards at least).
Don't know if any exist but for the always top rank then the rank is likely calculated by some means. One of those is likely a simple counter or something that you can force to always be a high number and thus always get a top rank almost regardless of the rest (if for instance there is a score component and the base level performed flawlessly or near enough to it gives you S rank find this value and stick a bunch more on it to swamp out the rest of the characteristics).

No losing money when dying... harder to do as a basic cheat and most would likely look to modifying the death mechanics (similar to what is done for porting infinite lives cheats where you look through what changes the value in question to knock that out of the game), or simply do some kind of press this to add a small amount of money and land themselves back at around pre death total. Downsides to the latter are mostly just if you don't have the self control. You might be able to detect a death somehow (likely there is something in memory that either indicates it or is present by virtue of it) and hold the value constant or save it to restore later.
Option 2 is sometimes some games will allow you to carry over things if you have a special item (don't know Shovel Knight but plenty of similar games have such things). Forcing you to have said special item is a standard inventory cheat. Variations on the theme might also be possible if there is an easy mode or something that does not do it.

In both case, you got less money and thus process slower and being less powerful. Although it may not matter that much, just a thought of being less powerful make me quite sad knowing that I got less than other player for suck at gaming.

Editing to max money is easy but it also delete the sense of achievement for getting the money thus destroy the motive to play in the first place.

Odd reasoning from where I sit on the former but I mentioned how I would set about making such a thing.

For the latter indeed max money would probably rob you of some sense of accomplishment, but that is why I suggested button activators to add something instead.

Umm don't you get a chance to recover the money you dropped when you die in Shovel Knight? As long as you don't die again before doing it that is. Funny how that works, is just like Dark Souls. Is also possible to get more money by breaking checkpoints, "Risk, Reward"

Also, unless you're playing bayonetta on a system with achievements, I wouldn't worry too much about S ranks. Sure you get better reward for it, but can always replay any completed level for more money. Though to be honest, when I played that game, I never did that, beat it with what I had. That's the kind of player that had options.
  1. Replay levels to get lots of money for better stuff
  2. Lower the difficulty to easier mode
  3. You learned a lesson in determination from undertale
I tend to be more of the third option. :P

I have done the other ones, but i don't know. When I play a game and I feel like I have to spend my time "grinding for loot" as some call it, just to get a stronger character, that becomes boring to me. Sure i like knowing just how strong I can make them, but not simply because is required to progress through the game. That kind of play is more useful for adjusting the game's balance, or difficulty for the player instead of "It's part of the game, just like RPG, you have strong bosses that can kill you easily if you aren't strong enough. So don't forget to spend time increasing your stats."

Lower difficulty is the obvious way the player can make the game easier without effort of option one. Just a flip of the switch. There is no shame in any of these options personally, playing easy mode just means you want to get through the game. Experience the story, gameplay and all that is offered is integral. You did buy it after all, get the money worth. Besides the high grades are there for people who want a challenge. Is not necessary to win and that's how it should be. Many people want games to provide challenge for them, but does it really matter as long as the player has fun? :ninja:

I always sucker for 100% achievement even though I never good enough for that. Just the though that I would miss something is enough to discourage me from playing. I used to have time to replay the game for 100% complete but nowadays I have too much game and too little time to complete so I just want to complete thing why I move on instead of keep replay for completion. That why I drop Persona 5 half way because some misstep that would make me replay the game to complete.

Wow that sounds like a tough as nails game.

One with super trial and error consequences. Sounds like me when I play tactical games, and that's why I don't play fire emblem. (Though later games seem to be easier and more forgiving to allow more players to play through the whole story) :ninja:

It is that way because the developer want the player to replay the game to finish everything so it is very hard to do most thing in one go. The time management is a bitch so much that just retreat from dungeon to heal will cost you a day and make you miss many thing down the line. There isn't many game where they write a whole day to day guide down to every single day to not miss everything.
