Capcom announces 'Street Fighter V: Champion Edition' and the return of Gill to the game's roster

Released back in 2016, Street Fighter V is still getting new content from Capcom. The developer and publisher of the game announced that a new version of the game, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, will launch early next year. Capcom is calling it "the most robust version" of the game which will come with all content (excluding Fighting Chance costumes, brand collaboration costumes and Capcom Pro Tour DLC) from both the original release and Street Fighter™ V: Arcade Edition. That's 40 characters, 34 stages and over 200 costumes for you to choose from!

Also announced was the return of Gill, the leader of the Secret Society and the end boss of the Street Fighter III series. This fighter uses pyrokinesis and cryokinesis, allowing him to control fire and ice with perfect elemental balance during combat. While he will be part of Street Fighter V: Champion Edition when this version launches next year, he can also be acquired separately starting in December 2019 for MSRP $5.99 / £4.99 / €5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money. A new trailer was released for the announcement:

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition releases on February 14th, 2020 for PS4 and PC at an MSRP of $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99. Want to learn more about what to expect of this installment of the classic fighting game series? Check out our official review below!

Anyone remembers "This time there will be only one version. We promise!"

What a sweet little lie that was.

Capcom: "with street fighter 5, we'll be able to not need multiple editions."
Also capcom:
  • SF 5 Arcade edition
  • SF 5 PS4 edition
  • SF 5 PS4 Pro Edition
  • SF 5 championship edition
  • SF 5 Turbo
  • SF 5 Turbo Remix
  • SF 5 Ultra
  • SF 5 extreme volleyball
  • SF 5 ultimate dodge ball
  • SF 5 Kart

They never said that, they just said that you wouldn't have to buy another update to keep playing the current version. The balance and gameplay changes of Champion Edition will be free for everyone just like Arcade Edition. That way, the community doesn't split up like it did with previous versions of SF.
It helps to know what you're talking about before spewing out incorrect kappa talking points you know...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Ffs, just let SF5 die already. No one likes SF5.

Yet people are still playing the game and its the most watched fighting game too. So I guess you should speak for yourself...

OK, I can understand Ultra SFII - TFC for the Switch, but seriously, why wasn't SFIV or V done for the Switch??????? All the Games in the 30th Anniversary Collection can be Emulated perfectly, so why bother???

Probably would have had more Sales if IV and V were included for the Switch. But my Comment was that eventually those Games would be Emulated.

Except there still is only one version.

You don't have to spend any more money to be able to play on the latest edition/version if you don't care for new DLC Characters and such.

The Vanilla release in 2016 still gets updated to Champion Edition like it did to Arcade Edition.

Street Fighter V is console exclusive because Sony bankrolled the game from what I read.

Really disappointed Crapcom didn't release USFIV in the 30th anniversary game.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnd of course those sony huggin scumbags have to make it a PS4 and PC exclusive
Where's the love for the Switch Capcom?!!
Announce it for Xbox you cowards.
street fighter v wouldn't exist without sony personally funding the project that's why as far as consoles go it's exclusive. Like how for example nintendo helped fund bayonetta 2 which made that game exclusive to nintendo consoles.
