Shenmue III launch trailer teases the long-awaited sequel to the Dreamcast cult classic

The long wait for Shenmue III has almost come to a close, with the game releasing in less than a week's time. Shenmue III continues the story of the previous entry in the franchise, Shenmue II, which released all the way back in 2001, 18 years ago. With the launch imminent, the development team behind the game has uploaded a trailer, showing off bits of story cutscenes and voice-acted dialogue. The almost two-decade wait will be concluded on November 19th, when Shenmue III launches for the PlayStation 4 and Epic Games Store.

I wish this game did well, but I think it will bomb really hard.
the game is stiff and weird, the dub is cheap and the motions are just terrible, like a poorly choreographed kung fu movie

they haven't shown many in game battles, and i think that's because they made the game to look and play like it was on the dreamcast, which is awful considering how much this kind of game evolved with sega's own yakuza series...

worst part is that this might not even be the final shenmue chapter anymore after the greed monster bit yu suzuki.

it became kind of a rule of mine to suspect every time sony overhypes a game
no man's sky = crap
dad of war = crap ( sorry but it is, they even hired PR to bash all negativity using fake twitter accounts and fake metacritic reviews )
death stranding = crap
and by the way no refunds!
every single time they act really shady and dismissive after release, it's super scammy.

I've never played the originals, but can appreciate their cult status.

I can also see that this game will be a huge disappointment.

Also, welcome to my club, y'all! Shenmue games are bad. This won't be any different.

I can't wait to play it although the graphics is still disappointing especially when compared to the yakuza series which also has a measly budget to make.

See, no man's sky I get (though they've improved it a lot over time, the launch was awful), Death Stranding is a very hit or miss type of game so I can get that too, but God of War??? The game that got 10s from a ton of people and was labeled one of, if not the best game on the system by pretty much everyone who actually played it? Have you considered that you not liking a game doesn't make it crap?

This series is probably has my biggest regrets of not playing. My Dreamcast stopped reading discs days after I bought the first game in the early 2000's and with the PS2 and XboxOG I just never went back to finish them.
I wonder if I'd still enjoy them after almost twenty years?

I'm liking this post because I am thankful that the project is still alive, but despite that I'm completely conflicted on Shenmue 3. Again, I'm glad that the franchise isn't dead, but the franchise's campy-ness might not cut it in 2019. But without the campy-ness Shenmue really doesn't feel like Shenmue. I'm also not sure if the realism of Shenmue will cut it either, and not to say this as an criticism (this isn't a review), but a lot of the first game is just running through alleyways and talking to people. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe the Shenmue formula might pass for a 2019 release, I'm not sure. I'm really not sure about anything relating to this game.
