so uhm i think i kinda messed up but i also still dunno....
i recently installed unlaunch on my dsi but then i got a 2ds formatted the sd card i used to hack my dsi with and used it to hack my 2ds and now i wanna install hiya cfw and i wanna know if i can still install hiya with unlaunch installed and a blank sd card (formatted fat32 of course) (also i wont use my 3ds cfw sd card but a new one so i can keep my 3ds roms separately from my dsi cfw stuff) also ask something if u need more information to solve this problem

Lately I've been having some problems with older homebrew files, and a lot of them mention that they should be DLDI patched for the flashcart that you are using. Does homebrew need to be DLDI patched for use on an SD card, and if so, where are the patches? I am using an SD card with TWilight Menu++.

TWLM++/nds-bootstrap automatically DLDI-patches, iirc. You can try booting without direct boot on, but that doesn't guarantee they'll work.

Since there's already one for the 3DS, I thought why not make one for the DS(i) as well?
With the recent rise of the DSi scene with users using Unlaunch, HiyaCFW, and TWiLight Menu++ with nds-bootstrap, it's about time there's a noob paradise for the DS(i).

Basically, this thread was made so that hopefully this subforum won't get clogged with the same question(s). :P

Common FAQs

Q: How do I update Unlaunch?
A: Download the latest one here: https://problemkaputt.de/unlaunch.htm, and extract "unlaunch.dsi" to the SD root.

If you're on 1.8 or later:
Power on your DSi console, then select "UNLAUNCH".
After selecting it, select "INSTALL NOW".
You should now be on the latest version.

If you're on 1.7 or below:
Extract "unlaunch.dsi" to the SD root.
Rename your existing "bootcode.dsi" file to "hiya.dsi", then rename "unlaunch.dsi" to "bootcode.dsi".
Put your SD card in the DSi console, then power it on.
If you see an "INSTALL NOW" option, select it.
You should now be on the latest version.

Is it possible to restore the DSi software to the way it was before installing Unlaunch and the CFW?

Is there an Instruction on how to do that or an video?

I installed an DSi Homebrew Menu on my DSi with Firmware 1.4.5 using the Camera App Hack.
Before doing that I did an DSi NAND Backup. I then installed unlaunch on my DSi.
After that I installed the HiyaCFW and TWiLight Menu++.
Everything is working fine so far.

Now I want to sell my DSi and restore everything to the way it was before installing Unlaunch and the CFW.
How do I do that? Is there an Instruction on how to do that or an video?
I have zero experience with CFW or this kind of stuff, so an easy explanation would be really helpful.

In general I advise against uninstalling custom firmware on any device because it can have bad effects – including full bricking if important titles have been modified – and has no benefits I can think of. But this is my very personal opinion.

Newer versions of the unlaunch installer contain an uninstall function. If you did not modify anything on the NAND other than installing unlaunch, the uninstaller should not cause any harm – despite the message:
Warning: Uninstalling unlaunch
will render your console mostly
useless.
Not sure what the developer wants to say with that (pointing to possible bricks in case of modified “Launcher” or just “A DSi without unlaunch is useless.”) Most interpret is with the second answer ("It is just a joke!"). I've read about multiple cases now where nothing bad happened after uninstalling unlaunch.

You can start the installer – if it is still on your SD (else re-download) – right from the unlaunch filemenu [Hold (A)+(B) while turning on the DSi]. The installer should have a name like "Unlaunch DSi Installer" However, do not hold me responsible. Since I have no way to recover from bricks on a DSi my testing is very limited compared to the 2|3DS systems. As for the SD: You can just format it (after copying personal files like saves or photos).

I mean to have the twiligth without I get error .dat? or hiya cwf without the error of the folder, when wanting to play snes games asks me for DLDI and Fat system (All erroneous) I leave the console as I leave it or do I have to start all over again?

Just launch the SNES games in the TWLMenu++ ROM menu.

The only thing you need is the possibility to put files on the SD.
Please use https://dsi.cfw.guide/ for step-by-step instructions (instead of video guides).

If you have any specific questions or encounter any problems… just ask.

Try installing TWiLight Menu++ on the R4, instead of YSMenu.
