How can I dump the key from the 3ds to decrypt the nand which cannot boot because it is broken physically?
Is hardmod useful in this case?
Accodring to the NAND Dumping Tutorial linked from the guide, the console has to be on and showing an 8046 blue screens of death error for dumping.
I don’t know if (and why) this is necessary (power for the NAND chip?). However, there are possibilities to read out NAND chips with hardware flashers (no idea if this has been done with 3DS NAND).

The OTP is part of the embedded essentials.exefs backup by GodMode9 since v1.2.1. If a not too old version of GodMode9 has been used on the console at least once, chances are good a NAND image created with hardware methods can be decrypted.

If not… well: Either revive the device (Do you know what is wrong with it?) or if it is broken beyond repair: A skilled technician might be able to transfer NAND and CPU to another device (given that both NAND and CPU are intact). This requires expensive hardware and experience.

============================================================
What is your goal? What do you want to achieve by decrypting the NAND?
Please keep in mind that simply flashing a complete NAND image from console "A" to console "B" is guaranteed to fully brick "B".

I followed your instruction and was able to use homebrew launcher ...i accessed the fbi and tried to install cias but there were some errors and i couldn't install them ..so i tried to use other apps on the homebrew launcher there was a doom game on it so ran it and when i quit the game the error popped up and every time i tried to turn on my 3ds this error pops up..but i am abe to accesss my 3ds with write-protection enabled on my sd card...should i just format my sd card and install homebrew again...
Okay a way to fix this would be to format the memory card but before we try that lets try a better method do you happen to know the exact error you got when you tried to install these cias

My current new 3ds xl is homebrewed and I have a lot of savegames on it. Is it possible to write those saves to actual game cartridges? I would basically like to unhomebrew my 3ds and use game cartridges, but losing savegames would be sad.
I found an R4i Save Dongle but I don't really understand if it would help me.

The dongle lets you transfer a savegame to your original cart. This is what you want.

Could anyone explain a bit, how can I get a savegame from my current homebrewed 3ds to a original cart using this R4i dongle? I would much appreciate it!

Try this method

(1) Download the files below.

(2) Extract them to your desktop.

(3) Insert your SD card into your PC.

(4) Take the boot.3dsx file and place it at the root of your SD card.

(5) Make a folder at the root of your SD card labeled 3ds (If it does not already exist).

(6) Place the FBI.3dsx within the folder labeled 3ds.

(7) Eject your SD card insert it into your 3ds and boot it up.

(8) Select the 3ds application Health and safety options (Or any random 3ds application)

(8) Once the application has booted hold (L) (R) (Down) (Select) this should boot the Rosalina Menu (Unless you have changed the menu combo).

(9) The bottom screen on your 3ds should now display a list of options select (Miscellaneous options) then select (Switch the hb. title to the current app.) wait until the process has completed then exit the Rosalina Menu and the application

(10) Renter the application you selected previously selected the application should now boot the homebrew launcher

(11) Scroll down the list of directories until you find a application labeled FBI and select it.

(12) When FBI has booted it should show a list of directory navigate to the one labeled SD

(13) Now navigate to the folder in which you have stored your cias and install them

(14) If there are any errors take note of the entire error regardless of what it says

I hope this helps you solve this problem.:ninja:

Been away from the 3DS scene for some time. Just came back and updated my luma on the current software. Came upon a .3ds file and tried to convert it, but no luck. godmod9 didn't do it and the converter I have been using awhile ago don't convert it. The file is currently over 4gb. I had found another one that was supposed to be decrypted and for some reason 1.9gB. Can't convert that one either. Any help for this Persona Q fan?

Had to find a CIA source lol. However any new info for converting will be appreciated!

Okay I understand do you have all of your games and apps on your PC? Another question is does your 3ds work without a SD card? if it does cut and past the folder in your SD card labeled Nintendo 3ds to your PC then power on your 3ds and try the method above I hope this works If your 3ds does not work with or without your SD card eject the SD card and then format the system memory then reinstall homebrew.

I may be able to help you try following these instructions

How to convert .3ds by .cia

(1) Take your .3ds files and put them in a folder on your SD card

(2) Power on your 3ds while holding start to enter godmod9 on the top screen select the directory labeled [0:] SDCARD ()

(3) Now navigate to the folder in which you stored your .3ds files and select one

(4) Once selected the bottom screen should display a list of options select NCSD image options...

(5) there now should be a longer list of options If you with to see the game you are converting select Show title info

(6) To convert the game select Build cia from file and wait for the process to end

(7) If it did not complete check the size of the file you are converting If it is huge try freeing up space on your SD card and trying again

I hope this solves your problem if not contact me and I will try to troubleshoot your problem.

My goal is to know my friend code and friends' on the list.
I have decided to repair the 3ds because I do not have any essentials.exefs .
The reason why it cannot turn on is that the cables of the upper LCD display, the camera, the speaker , and the volume are broken.
I know the upper LCD display is necessary for 3ds to turn on. How about the others?
Can it turn on without them?

Hey all, I am updating my system, 11.8.0-41u to 11.12.0 using the 3ds guide and update checkpoint, ctr no timeoffset, fbi, and lumaupdate, but I have a question that I can't answer. Do I need to move the contents of my emunand to my sysnand before updating the 3ds system settings > other settings > system update?

Currently I am on:
Luma3DS 10.01: Manually updated
GodMode9 1.9.0: Manually updated
System Update: 11.8.0-41u
sysNAND backed up

Thanks all!
