The Nintendo 3DS has a new firmware update available in the form of v11.12.0-44

It's stability time! A brand new update is out, for the Nintendo 3DS. Firmware version 11.12.0-44 has just released, bringing with it...well, no one knows exactly what it brings with it just yet. The yls8 page shows the update having gone out for most regions tonight, but Nintendo's official website hasn't updated to show the changelog (and obvious stability additions) as of the time of writing. What we do currently know is, a handful of titles have been updated thanks to this new firmware, including NVer, CVer, StreetPass, friends system-module, NATIVE_FIRM and Web browser data. More information will be added as things become more clear.

UPDATE: And to no one's surprise, here are the patch notes from Nintendo:

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

Currently, Luma still boots, but is not confirmed to be 100% working, while other homebrew and CFW are being tested.

Can't expect anything less for how stable Nintendo firmware updates are.

Just wondering how long Nintendo will support 3DS, since I don't see any new upcoming 3DS games.

I mean the CakesFW bundle without the firms. I'd like to be back to the good old days.
Download it from the official github. I am not up for putting any effort in a dead CFW that I only keep around for the very few who still use it and or ask me to test something.

View attachment 185085 @Lilith Valentine you are correct in saying Rei Six will not boot to a sysnand which is on 11.12. But if I boot my emunand that is on 11.12 it boots perfectly. Very strange how sysnand doesn't work but emunand does.
Interesting, thanks for telling me! It honestly might be an easy fix for the sysNAND, but neither of us wants to invest in the time in fixing it and I still personally suggest moving to Luma3DS from here.

Yep I use luma for all its added benefits. But one benefit rei six has is for anyone who has kids there is a hell of a lot less for their inquisitive little minds to fuck with compared to luma lol. I always use Rei any time I look after my nephew that little fucker likes to break things :rofl2:

But... What they really change here? Any exploit? Any .hax? Anything?
From what I've saw, sometimes they will add New 3DS speed support to 3rd Party 3DS games if it doesn't brake anything, and I guess they need time to test it, that could be the reason for the wait between updates. I say that because I had to use Luma to change the 3DS settings to use the New 3DS CPU Clock for certain games like Fire Emblem Awakening, and I think Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. (Unless the update brakes entrypoints of course, which they have done in the past.)

Pointless with rumors floating around they've killed all their plans for the 3DS.
I think this was an update to patch a bounty exploit.

At least one good thing came out of this update; all the firmware numbers are unified again (ie, not 11.10/11.11).
That drives my OCD crazy.
