TX Presents SX OS v2.9.2 Beta - With Improved Stealth Mode and More!

Another day, another SX OS update! Today, Team-Xecuter released their SX OS v2.9.2 beta.

Good news, we been informed that TX has finally released v2.9.2 and it contains some new features, and also it looks this will soon be their 'STABLE' release and they report they are hard at work on SX OS v3.0.0 so we have alot to look forward to enjoy soon! Oh'yeah, it also fully supports the latest Nintendo Switch firmware v9.0.1 of course :)
  • Local Multiplayer over the internet (LAN play) is working again.
Somewhere down the line we introduced a regression in functionality causing local multiplayer emulation to be broken and/or out of sync with the current lan-play implementation. This has been addressed and should work correctly again.
  • Extended scope of Stealth Mode
Recently it has come to our attention that there was claims floating around about stealth mode being broken on SX OS v2.9+. We investigated these claims and are happy to let you know this is completely wrong. Stealth Mode behaved exactly the same like it always did. Nonetheless, we took this feedback/rumour as an opportunity to further tighten down on the stealthiness. From now you cannot start the eShop application if you have stealth mode enabled. Furthermore all error reporting and telemetry has been neutered. That means errors that are generated while using SX OS that might get you "flagged" won't be queued up for delivery when you boot into OFW anymore either!
  • Improved XCI game compatibility
In our last update we already addressed some compatibility issues with re-packed XCI images, yet some XCI files were still not playable. We investigated this issue and as it turns out there are certain tools around (older versions of 'NSC Builder' for example) that generate bogus metadata for the (encrypted) 'Gamecard Info' that is part of the XCI header. Our gamecart emulation now detects these bad images and fixes them. If you want your XCI images to be future proof; please be careful with whatever post-processing you apply to XCI files though, we can't clean up after other people's mistakes indefinitely!
  • Rebooting SX OS
If you select "restart" now from the power options menu you will actually reboot into SX OS. There is no need to replug your SX Pro dongle or send a payload from your computer when doing so. Additionally, if an error occurs you can also reboot into SX OS by simply pressing the power button. Neat!

They report this will be their final v2.x release as they are moving forward to a big v3.0 release with it having many suggestions they have received over the last few months from their valued SX OS users, so in the meantime grab their v2.9.2 release from their website.

Have you tried playing without your dump but with your own original mario maker cartridge in your system, maybe that works?
Yes point made but it beats the objective of having all your retails dumped in xci format so you don’t have to carry all your games around with you at once. I am also assuming the main point of having sxos on your switch is to use the xci emulation else I would save my money and use Atmosphere.

True, I totally agree with you, I only thought of a solution for you until sx solves this problem!

Solid update, this seems to have squished many bugs. Aside from the official notes it also fixes error 2168-0002 when exiting album with "B" button and/or launching homebrew while docked. Glad to hear custom XCI loading is back and that stealth mode has been improved further. Now we just need to see if this resolves the issue of GC fuse burn and also if incognito will install. People were also reporting issues using cheats while running XCIs off of an SSD/HDD. If anyone could test these bugs and report back that would be great! ^_^
Big problem loading xci games like Doom and Doom 3, also Witcher 3 XCI not able to load. Doom 3 loads but is SLOW and hangs at splash screens, Doom ( Modern Doom ) is throwing error.

I updated from 8.1 to 9.01 and updated SX os to 2.9.2 and everything seems to be working great aside from homebrew. hbmenu opens fine and I see all my homebrew but it doesn't seem to be detecting any buttons that I press. All I can do is press the home button to exit. I can't move the stick or dpad to select a different app, and I can't select or go back with A or B. It isn't frozen, it just doesn't read any buttons except the home button. It does this regardless of whether I load hbmenu from the nsp, from the album, or use takeover by holding R on another game.

If I try and load retroarch or goldleaf directly from the homebrew section of sx os through the album it's the same. They load fine but don't detect any buttons aside from the home button.

If anyone could help me out I would be grateful. I'm sure I'm just overlooking something really simple.

Hi,
Can I please confirm the following steps are working now with this BETA (in this order)?

1. Boot up Switch with new 2.9.2 SX OS.
2. Update Firmware to 9.0.1 using ChoidujourNX 1.01.
3. Reboot.
4. Enjoy.

I know v2.9 BETA was running into problems with updating firmware. Just want to confirm that issue is no longer a problem.

Thanks.

What I did from 8.1 was:
1. Yes
2. Using version 1.02
3. Yes
4. Yes, no problems at all.

Thanks for asking and reporting back. I'm still on 8.1 and 2.8 SX OS, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to update (and if it's worth it to do so).

Sorry for the noob question, but I've been out of this a long time.
With stealth mode enabled, is it safe to remove airplane mode to be able to use homebrews like HGB shop? Or will I be insta-gibbed once I go OFW again? :D
Thanks in advance!

There will never be 100% certainty. But yes, that's the idea of stealth mode. It blocks the connection to all Nintendo related services.

You need to update all homebrew for 9.0 support, I had to update the hb launcher, retroarch and ppsspp to be able to use it
