I am looking to purchase a 3TB hard drive, and was wondering would a partition work on the hard drive? Its only $10 extra from the 2TB hard drive, and with the extra 1TB I could possible store photos or even switch nsps on there. Advice?

Wii U want it own HDD with it own format, even 2TB is overkill, if you only want to install only a few games then it is a waste of a drive.
I mean, 1tb hard drive is only like $15 less than 2tb. And I also want to install wii and gamecube games using injector, so I'm sure I can put it on the same hard drive.
And plus, maybe in the future I might take my 2tb hard drive and use it for something else and switch wii u to a smaller 1tb hard drive if i find one in a deal...

IIRC 2 TB is the limit anyway, but I could be remembering wrong. But as said above unless you're trying to have every single Wii U game and every Wii game etc... you will not need more than 2 TB. But also as said above, you cannot use that hard drive for anything but the Wii U as the Wii U has it's own format so no partitions will work.

You could, it is based off how much stuff you want to install, if only couple hundred GB, the 2TB is kinda over kill, so it is up to yourself, only if you install a lot then it is worth it.

Ok, in that case I'll settle for a 500GB hard drive for now...

I have a 750gb and I have the Wii U's limit of 300 games, some are small like DS N64 but the rest are Wii U, Wii and Gamecube, and I have almost 200 gb of space left.

Yeah you can't exceed 300 games on the Wii U with a hard drive.
