Hello.:)

Yesterday,I wanted to know:

Tinkering around with "mymenuify" and finally I did it:
The Wii System Menu no longer works.Only a,silent black Screen.

And there comes the "little" Advice:

Please ALWAYS INSTALL BootMii (recommended as Boot2) and PRIILOADER BEFORE you do ANYTHING with your Wii.
AND make as soon as possible a NAND Backup with BootMii. :)

First:BootMii Install is the FIRST Thing after you do Letterbomb.It saves you many work when something goes wrong ! Many time and nerves too.:D
Second: Priiloader completes this.The Bonus you have you can change your Boot behavior (the Wii can boot directly into USBLoader GX for example) and many other Things.
(If you KNOW what you DO.:evil: ).
It also saves you many,many Troubles.

I do not know how many Threads and Posts were already made about this......
And yet we read things like that every day:

- I have no Nand Backup....
- I do not have Priiloader installed...
- I forgot to install BootMii....

Please do something good for yourself and use this helpful Applications/Tools.It saves your day (and your Wii too of course.):)

To Recover your Wii with BootMii (installed as Boot2) you can use the POWER/RESET/EJECT Buttons on the Wii to navigate.
It is YOUR Choice if you SET BootMII to

- Boot directly into Homebrew Channel/USBLoader GX
- Shows BootMii at Power on for an adjustable time
(You can configure these Two Options with the Wii Tool "BootMii Config Editor")

NO Gamecube Controller or Wiimote is necessary.

For navigate in Priiloader and/or have BootMii installed only as IOS and do a NAND Recovery you still NEED an Gamecube Controller !

Update: Thanks to @DacoTaco ´s latest Release v0.9 you can also navigate now with the
Wii Buttons START and RESET !!

Thank you for Reading.:)

P.S. with the installed BootMii as Boot2 and the NAND Backup it takes less than 5 Minutes (excludes the Simulation Run) to get my Wii back.:)

Many Thanks for your Additions and Advices goes to:

@Ryccardo
@KleinesSinchen
@tswntk
@XFlak

Thank you, these are the things that means community.:)

It's THAT fast? unbelievable...

But for the vast majority of consoles that don't have bootmii as boot2, unfortunately you need a GC controller to restore a backup (I really wish someone made a hack to remove this requirement)

Of course, for a banner OR theme brick, just removing the defective title or reinstalling the Wii Menu is faster than restoring a backup :)

Yes,that is the only Thing,it works only with a Gamecube Controller....:(

Thank you for reminding me on that little Limitation.:bow:

I have added this to my first Post.:)

Since when is reminding people to make backups your job, @alexander1970? This is my job… (Hihi!)

Let me add some points:
  • Create an additional NAND image any time right before trying something. You do not want to lose all your progress and installed titles because of a severely outdated backup.
  • Speaking of game progress aka saves: Any device (Wii in this case) may fail for no apparent reason from one moment to another. Use SaveGame Manager GX to backup your saves from time to time.
  • Test the SD card with h2testw/F3/F3X before trusting it. A fake and/or defective SD can cause a lot of trouble.
Other than that: It can’t be said too often: Install Priiloader and – if possible – BootMii@boot2. Losing a Wii because of omitting this protection is an unnecessary waste.

One little Limitaton on all of this "Advice". To Recover your Wii you NEED a Gamecube Controller !!
This is a bit confusing. If you are fortunate enough to be able to install Bootmii@boot2, you don't need a gamecube controller, you can just use the reset and eject buttons to navigate Bootmii@boot2.
You can also use Bootmii@boot2 to auto-boot directly to usbloadergx. It is loaded even before priiloader but of course you need an SD card and a specific boot file

I think if the Wii is as in my First post "not ok" then you need it.:unsure:
(I will take a look on it again).:)

EDIT: @tswntk Yes,absolute correct,for BootMii is NO Gamecube Controller necessary.:yaywii:
I corrected it in the First Post.
Thank you.:)
