you are mistaken. title mode was not intentionally broken, it was a consequence of a “bug” in atmosphere. if you invert the hold r functionality , like ams used to be, then you have to hold R to load games too which is not viable. the only way to disable hbmenu launching on vanilla ams with the r button inverted was to disable title override. i had to fork ams to get the functionality i wanted.
I'm not mistaken, I never said it was intentional. Yours was a bug, I wouldn't call Atmosphere's a bug at all. Interesting how you failed to address any of my other points, much like many of your other responses in this thread. There are valid solutions that don't involve you forking and taking over a user's installs, you just refuse to see them.

Oh, you're forking to fix, I thought you're making a whole CFW suite focused on the entire Switch experience? You're not fixing atmosphere. You're exposing CAL0 for the one-time function of an unrelated program, and your entire fork is dedicated to hard-switching things that should be configurable (removing functionality -- initially going so far as to break title mode) because you're hell-bent on controlling a user's system. Also, I looked into it, the memory change is to keep it so swkbd can run, or it could have a failure to allocate. There's no "standards-compliant with the other two CFWs" -- the other two are forks of the original, which updated to improve stability, and safety of the user's product info. New changes by the front-runner are always going to be out of "standards". You have demonstrated you wish this to remain exposed continually as part of your "entire Switch experience", and your code is closed source. That is not safe, I'm not making anything up. You can keep having this arguments with everyone and decide that everyone but you is wrong, but a pattern is emerging, and it's pretty clear.

There are other apps that allow you to install titles. Additionally, tinfoilmod removes the requirement for the forked atmosphere, so if you're irritated, just don't do it.
While my TinfoilMod can remove this requirement for advanced users, the default behavior and configuration of hbl 2.2 is to be considered harmful for homebrew development. It heavily restricts the heap size for Applet homebrew, with no possibility of opt-in or opt-out.
I do not believe the current major toolkit developers for the Switch homebrew community have their community's best intentions in mind. While I would appraise them for building a handful of the tooling, it clearly shows that there is no intention to do things properly (libnx: apm bug, HID issue, no support for shared libraries, unstable API, ...) or listen to the developers themselves (see the devkitPro archival case, for an example of this point). Their efforts are commendable, but the results are often poor, disappointing and deceiving.
I can only partially agree on your point where you claim that "There's no "standards-compliant with the other two CFWs"". In order for homebrew to be generally as compatible as possible, ReSwitched and Switchbrew had decided on a common ABI for NRO-based homebrew, for which you can find more information about here. However, it has been broken often times; usually for the sake of compatibility. Nowadays, most homebrew will require a firmware modification or custom firmware to work; which defeats the entire purpose of NRO-based homebrew, in my opinion; unless modified. Some of the workarounds for these issues could have been implemented in nx-hbloader itself, but were instead implemented in Atmosphere. "New changes by the front-runner are always going to be out of "standards"" does not mean others should follow or that they should just be accepted. This kind of behavior could mean a lot of trouble in the future.
Finally, I can attest that there is no issue with security or privacy with DZ/Tinfoil, as I've reverse-engineered it. Would you wish to confirm this and make further claims about it, feel free to reverse it yourself. I do not believe that closed source software is an issue by itself.

@connivence I'm just a normal user so I don't know how feasible this is but is it possible to discuss this issue with the atmosphere development team to come up with a good solution to that problem?
ReSwitched will never ever compromise anything for the sake of compatibility with any of blawar's tools. Some for good reason while others because of pettiness.

This is why I asked if @connivence could have a discussion with them regarding the topic since it doesn't affect just tinfoil but other homebrew as he laid out as he presented himself as reasonable and open to compromise regarding the issue.

All of these memes have been mitigated, it now launches hbmenu by default, however all of the relevant files you listed are now signed and cannot be modified:

holding nothing launches hbmenu
holding L launching mercury
holding ZL launches tinfoil
holding ZR launches nxmtp

use a forwarder if you want full access, title override is one of the dumbest memes ive seen in the scene.
Thanks.
I have been on your side up until now but Tinfoil is now more sketchy than ever and I can no longer sit idly by.
I was recommending Tinfoil to everyone because all of the other options were franky trash. But now Tinfoil is more sketchy than ever. It hijacks your HBL and your hotkeys without even mentioning it in the changelog, and moreover, you have no option to make it not hijack them if you want to continue using it. It's starting to border on malware and since it is closed source, for all we know, it may be soon enough if it isn't already. That kind of shit is just not acceptable and I will be boycotting Tinfoil from here on out and waiting for something better to come around.

I understand you want people to use your software but using malware tactics is not the way to go about it. Let people make their own choices in what they want to use. If they want to use Tinfoil on Atmosphere and they don't understand the implications, let them enjoy a crashy Tinfoil and you can go "I told you so" when they neglect to read the warnings about applet mode not giving enough memory, that's your right. But don't use scummy malware tactics, that's just gonna chase people away. Take my advice or don't, but the more you do this kind of shit, the more you're pushing people away.

hbl was hijacked to fix memory issue atmosphere caused. the hotkeys are not hijacked per se, as the hotkeys dont exist in vanilla ams, i just added new ones. Though I did invert hold R behavior, that was the original atmosphere behavior.

The reason it was done, was not to force people to use my software. Atmosphere fucked up, the reasons are above. I will add the hotkeys to the change log, those hotkeys you dislike are actually pretty popular.

Extract the entire zip to your SD card and reboot.

Using a version of Tinfoil with the malware removed works beautifully on vanilla Atmosphere, so the "Atmosphere fucked up" argument is nonsensical.

If an app changes my hotkeys without my consent nor knowledge, it's malware. If an app removes features of my CFW without my consent nor knowledge, it's malware. Adding the hotkey changes to the changelog is a marginal step in the right direction, but the newer versions of Tinfoil have, by definition, been bundled with malware up until this point.

You arent running it in applet mode with vanilla atmosphere then, or you are using pieces of RajNX2 :)

I don't get it. What is all this fighting for?
@blawar has made it so newer versions of his Tinfoil require his fork of Atmosphere (if you're using Atmosphere). This fork, among other things, changes hotkeys and removes features on Atmosphere. It's unnecessary malware targeting Atmosphere users because blawar doesn't like Atmosphere, and his reasons are not defensible. The malicious changes also happen without the consent of the user and without alerting the user to the changes, which is why I use the term "malware."

No, you call it malware because you don't like it. The download page on https://tinfoil.io/ clearly states it is an atmosphere fork you are installing. Change is hard, I get it. The fork doesnt harm you in any way. You say it removes features, yet it doesnt remove anything you would notice except inverting the album launch key.

I don't call it malware because I don't like it. I call it malware because it removed features and changed my buttons without me knowing and without my consent. There are a million things you could have done that I wouldn't have liked but wouldn't have called malware. Please don't make up lies about why I call it malware. That calls for the operation of my mind, and I've also been very clear about why I call it malware.

Saying it's a fork doesn't say what it does. I didnt know that I'd lose prodinfo brick protection. I didn't know my hotkeys would change. I didn't know I would be forced to use Mercury for no reason. I didn't know I would lose title override. All the changelog said was that bugs would be fixed, which 100% wasn't true. It's malware, it's obtrusive, and it's deceptive. Respectfully, regardless of how you emotionally feel about it, your arguments are demonstrably false.

I like Incognito and Tinfoil, but the new versions of Tinfoil contain malware for Atmosphere users, and I cannot recommend using Tinfoil unless it's patched. As I mentioned earlier, the patched version that removes the malware works just fine with vanilla Atmosphere. I can understand why you didn't respond to that though, since it contradicts the entire pretense for the malware.

You never had prodinfo brick protection, even scires admits its a near worthless meme. It was a false sense of security. It didn't stop bricks, it caused some bricks, and generally annoyed most users. The BIS "protection" code in atmosphere is pretty much just a disaster that protected no one. Scires himself said it was not meant to prevent malicious software from bricking you.
