Hey y'all, this is my first ever post, and it's a doozy so hang tight with me. Yesterday I was using my PS Vita with Trinity 3.70 like any other day, but when I restarted the system through Autoplugin and tried running Trinity after startup, I got this error:

Cannot start this application. You must download the application again from [Download List] in [PS Store]. (C0-11136-2)

That's when I started freaking out. I knew that the only way to fix something like that was to go through VitaShell, but of course I couldn't because I couldn't run the exploit. So I sucked it up and updated to 3.72 and installed H-encore 2. The exploit works, and everything seems fine until I open VitaShell and see that my SD2VITA isn't connected. Also, Adrenaline wasn't wanting to open even though that data was saved on my Vita Memory Card. Already stressed from this ordeal, I figured maybe if I downgraded back to 3.70, things would work again. I followed a tutorial on how to use Modoru, everything was working up until the downgrade started. My screen was telling me that the "update" failed, and it would need to restart and try again. It did this 3 or 4 times. I finally got a longer message telling me that it couldn't update, so I turned it of and back on myself, and all I get is a black screen every time. Then I turned it on in Safe Mode, and the only option it let's me choose is:

5. Update System Software

to which I choose it, try to update while connected to the computer, and it tells me I'm already on the newest fireware. I try updating with the memory card and it tells me that the update can't be found. I tried using the battery-disconnect button combo, which didn't work (Power+PS+L+Select). That's where I'm at right now. I'm in the mindset that my Vita is toast, but I thought I would message here as a last ditch effort, since I'm not an expert. I'm willing to try anything.

For now, you can still use henkaku-2 to use everything, just keep in mind many plugin just not working well on 3.72 so dont panic if anything fail, you can reset the vita easily.
Back to the job, you must rework the plugin into config in tai, which mean :
1. Do not try to upgrade anymore, open up vitashell, copy plugin to tai
2. put sd2vita plugin back
3. put adrenaline back
All your file still stay in the same place as before, so dont format thing, keep calm, just fix the plugin will bring them all back.

And please wait for Modoru to work on 3.72, then go down to 3.65/3.60 straight from there.

  1. 3.71 and 3.72 don't have the same capabilities as 3.70 (you really should have downgraded 3.70 when you had the chance)
  2. Downgrading does not work on 3.71 or 3.72. It's unknown whether it'll be updated to support them
  3. Adrenaline does not work on 3.71 or 3.72 since PSPEMU was updated on 3.71. It's unknown if Adrenaline will be updated to support them.
  4. To repair your Vita try updating from safe mode, but use QCMA running on the PC and in QCMA options set the firmware version to something lower than what you have (ie 3.710.000) so that the Vita thinks the update is newer and tries to install it.
  5. Once it's back up and running, wait until there's an okay for downgrading and don't put it off this time.

The only issue right now is getting the Vita to actually come one. It doesn't even show the logo, just a black lit screen on power up. If there were a way to get past that, I would love to use your advise.

So now your Vita stuck in softbrick because you tried Modoru on 3.72, please do as AnalogMan said:
1. Remove CMA if using it, install QCMA
2. set the firmware version to something lower than what you have (ie 3.710.000) so that the Vita thinks the update is newer and tries to install it.
3. install the update, get your vita to boot, run 3.72, use h-encore 2, downgrade to 3.65 with this guide

in case you have vita SLIM, it's also better if you do all these firmware relate thing WITHOUT sony memory card, just my experience.

Ok, so I found a 3.71 PSP2UPDAT.PUP file online and put it in Documents/PSV Updates folder. I also went to QCMA settings and changed in Advance Settings the custom PS Vita Update version to 03.710.000. I turned on Safe Mode on the Vita, chose Update by Connecting to a PC, and it still tells me that, "The latest version of the system software is already installed." The weird thing is that I can see the .PUP file in the updates folder when I access it through my computer, but when I browse for the folder in QCMA, it doesn't show up, even though it's the same folder.

SET THE CUSTOM VITA FIRMWARE TO YOUR VERSION
(If youre trying to recover a softbrick on 3.72 set the custom vita firmware to 03.720.000)
literally spent an hour following ZeroSenes instructions and then tried using 3.720.000 after basically giving up

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Sorry. What I mean is: if youre trying to recover a brick from firmware 3.72. then in QCMA set the vita firmware setting to: 03.720.000 and download the 3.72 firmware PSPUPDAT file from the link thats posted above, and put the update file whereever specified in QCMA and connect the vita to your computer via usb and select system update on your vita. this should work.

Dude, updating with the 3.72 firmware worked! I just put H-encore 2.0 and Vita Shell on it. Thanks to everyone here helping me out through this. I'll definitely get onto downgrading the proper way to Enso with the new Jane's Tech tutorial.

Dude this is the only method that I have made the most progress with. I boot into safe mode, only have the option to update via ps3, pc and memory card. I follow your steps and get the vita to recognize the soft update and as soon as it hits 7% I get hit with error code C3-12027-2 and that's where I'm stuck. I've tried everything from other forums and this one. I feel like I'm right there at the finish line but I need to get past this error code! Lol

You should use the firmware Official Complete version, also it's best if you use the version you currently have before getting bricked

No idea if you've been able to fix it yet, but you'll be happy (or not happy, depending on your circumstance) to know I was in this exact situation recently, when Modoru came out for 3.72. (Have a look at my posts).

The only way I was able to restore my Vita was by connecting it to my PS3, which kept it on 3.72 with all my data. If you don't have a PS3, you're pretty much stuck unless you can somehow get the update onto your memory card (Although I'm pretty sure the error appears for both PC and Memory Card)

TLDR; If you don't have a PS3, there's not really any way to fix it.

(If you're still stuck, have a look at my post "Big problem on FW 3.71" and have a look at what people suggested on there.)

So after trying every method in every thread (including this one), I found the only method that worked for me via a YouTube video. It's similar to TheRisingSeans method but I used a 3.65 fw and set the custom fw to 03.790.000 and for some reason that worked except I can't use 3.65 and the update stopped right before it was finished so when I get home and have time, I'll test it out with other fw and see if I can get this fixed.
