Homebrew Question HBG shop new update and no full ram access

After doing this and entering Homebrew Menu pressing R while starting a game, HBM starts always in applet mode and key input doesn't work.

Oh I forgot to add a step. It should be fixed if you download the latest atmos or kosmos and place it on your sd card.

I just updated my HBG and realized this problem as well. I however figured out a fix, I founded a modded tinfoil which can use hbg / tinfoil without any anti atmosphere DRM.

Simply follow these steps:

1) Drag and drop HBG onto the root of your sd card.

2) Drag and drop the mod found here onto your sd card.

3) Drag and drop the latest version of atmosphere or kosmos onto the root of your sd card.

4) Boot into hbg / tinfoil and copy down the device id it gives you.

5) Put your sd card in your computer and go to switch / tinfoil / mod_config.ini and open it.

6) Delete "enter your tag" and replace it with the device id you copied down.

7) Save the file and put your sd card back into your switch.

8) Boot into HBG / Tinfoil and enjoy!

This is all too bad. Tinfoil was my preferred NSP-installer, but I can no longer recommend using it.

If installing an application a.) alters button combinations without my consent, and b.) removes features from the CFW I'm using, then it's malware.

If you use a new version of Tinfoil and/or HBG with Atmosphere, you are required to use a modified version of Atmosphere that changes button combinations and removes the title override function for launching homebrew outside of applet mode. Forgive my bluntness, but it's incredibly stupid.

I see, so you are forced to update basically, but it wont change the input on its own. I am really new to switch homebrew and it's really confusing with all its rivalry and different groups that want to modify your CFW and stuff like that

You are not forced to update. You are forced to use the modified versions of Atmosphere and Homebrew Menu just because he wants it that way. There is no reason for him to do it. He just does.

The good news is TheBigPP works just fine and bypasses the malware included with Tinfoil. You can use TheBigPP, or you can use HBG by replacing the tinfoil.nro with the one from TheBigPP.

I legit just heard from "TheBigPP" today, checked on it, and it utilizes just the same mod as the one we talk about to bypass the DRM. Difference is it downloads from other servers (probably a HBG mirror) and also has 1st party titles.
For the end user that should be completely irrelevant tho.

For new versions of Tinfoil to run, the modified version of Atmosphere that's included with Tinfoil must be used. Otherwise, Tinfoil refuses to run.

It's a lot like HBG, but you don't have to use the malware included with stock Tinfoil/HBG.

The version of Tinfoil included with TheBigPP can also be used to get HBG running without blawar's malware.

Just so I'm clear, I like blawar and I think he has made a lot of awesome apps. He gets some criticism for things he has done in the past, but this is the first time I've seen him do something I actually think is stupid.

L does not work, it's been switched to R and that forces Mercury to load. No full ram access... you can not use it on games, only the screen shot icon. If anyone has a viable workaround, I would be happy to hear it.

Thanks to everyone for their replys. I think it's pretty absurd to do something like this with Tinfoil.

(Edit: for some reason I replied that L did work, it does not)

to fix your problem you have to download tinfoil from the tinfoil website

Can you not just use the tinfoil from tinfoil.io and change the locations/sources out with the ones used by HBG and theBigPp? Is that too obvious?
