Hacking Don't know what card to buy

I own a DSI XL, and a New 2DS XL.

I had the original Edge card for my DS Lite and loved it. It still works but not on my DSI XL.

My needs are simple, I'm looking for a card that I can use on my DSI XL and or my 2DS XL, that will allow me to play NES, SNES, GBA, DS, and DSI roms on one or both systems, with full cheat support that uses action replay, codebreaker, or gameshark codes, especially for GBA and DS. If there's a card that'll let me cheat 3ds games too, that'd be a big plus.

Also, no time bomb.

Suggestions please.

Simple? Okay…
Well… I’m not aware of any device that will do all of this. DS mode flashcarts are limited to what a DS can handle – even when using a 2|3DS.

• Playing normal DS games is the core function so any modern flashcart should do with full cheat support
• There are homebrew emulators for NES, GB(C) (both pretty good) and SNES (limited compatibility, no support for games with special chips like FX or SA1). DS resolution is smaller than (S)NES which means scaling or cropping.
• DSi-ROMs?
  • Booting DSiWare disables access to the cartridge slot if I remember correctly.
  • DSi enhanced games normally are started in DS, not DSi mode.
  • There are very few DSi exclusive game cartridges.
  • There was this one thing, Cyclo, or something like that – it supposedly can boot games in DSi mode.
• For GBA games:
  • GBARunner2.
  • DSTWO PLUS – extra CPU for GBA and SNES (drains the battery fast)

I personally recommend the R4i Gold 3DS Plus as it is relatively cheap, readily available (opposed to DSTWO or Cyclo) and is preflashed for ntrboot. Also no time bomb.

Because this is not a direct answer to your question I have put this into a spoiler. Nevertheless I would say this is a notable alternative.

I'm primarily looking for something that has cheat support for GBA games. I already have cfw and fbi and all that installed on my 2ds xl. My issue is I can't find a way to use cheats on them. I've tried imbedding the codes into the rom itself, but after patching and converting to cia, games like Fire Emblem will crash if 3 or more codes are enabled at a time, and sometimes crashes without enabling any.

Does gbarunner2 even have cheat support?

@Gericom (and friends) made very great breakthroughs in the last Months.

- New UI
- Settings Menu
- improving Game compatibility with the help of many Users here testing games
- Link option is in the way

The Game compatibilty is great and is getting better and better every day,many,many Games works perfect.
Also of course Save Support.
And at the moment he is working on the LINK option over WiFi which works yet but is on developement

what do you want with it?
maybe twilight menu does what you need without a flashcard.
GBA emulation isn't really there yet, there's only 2 cards that run thone games right.

I just want to be able to play my GBA games on an XL screen and cheat like hell.

I had both a legit gameshark and an action replay for my real gba and sp, but they both won't boot anymore, and replacements are anywhere between 60 bucks and 150, and I figure buying a flashcard that'd do the same thing on a more advanced system like the dsi or 3ds would be a better option because it'd roughly cost the same and I'd have a nice big backlit display. If it has any other bells and whistles such as DS games with cheat support, that'd be even better.

How would you rate the EZ Flash Omega for the gba/sp? I may just buy one of those and a modded original gba with a ags-101 screen (so I could at least see what the f is going on).

Has its rough edges but works fine for its intended purpose (runs clean roms of non-special-hardware GBA titles, not excellent but reasonable software emulation for NES/GB/C but it you're going to carry a 2/3/DS/i anyway they're better played there)

Cheats are in a "proprietary" format though (well, actually they're simple unobfuscated memory writes - can't get easier to write than that, but I mean they're not directly in a commonly used format, unlike on DS where not only there's only one leading format (action replay DS) but most flashcard kernels have a near perfect implementation of it)

Also remember that DS and Gamecube were the first Nintendo consoles to require loading a program into memory, instead of running it directly from memory mapped storage - so cheats for these earlier consoles are inherently more limited since they can't directly modify the program as it runs
