Untitled Goose Game releases on the 20th of September this year

A stealth game which has you play as a Goose, developed by House House, just got its release date of the 20th of September. At launch it will release on both the Switch and PC.

A description of the game from Nintendo:
It's a lovely morning in the village and you are a horrible goose. Untitled Goose Game is a slapstick-stealth-sandbox, where you are a goose let loose on an unsuspecting village. Make your way around town, from peoples' back gardens to the high street shops to the village green, setting up pranks, stealing hats, honking a lot, and generally ruining everyone's day.

Unfortunately, the game's name will not be changed to "Titled Goose Game".

Seems like a cute and clever concept. It's unfortunate the developer decided to go Epic exclusive, but as long as the price is right, I suppose this is one I was more likely to pick up on Switch anyway.

I can't really get worked up about games like this. Power to the people and all that, and good on the developers of doing whatever they want, but I always find that games that started as sort of a joke always end up falling flat. I don't really find that an amusing or seemingly funny concept is enough for carrying a game on its own.

On the top of my mind, Katamari is one of the few that did it right, while Octodad is one of the ones that made me decide not to give joke games that much of a chance. Making humour is hard, and making humour in videogames is even harder. I think well structured games that attempt humour usually end up better than humour which attempts to structure entire games.

So no mather how many trophies you unlock by playing this game on Steam or a PS4, you never get a title?

Okay that was terrible.

Not all games have to be an epic quest or even make sense.

Some games are just to have fun for a bit.

EarthBound is one of my favourite games. I don't mean to say I don't like games being humorous, I meant that I don't think humour, as a concept, is enough to single-handedly carry a game by itself unless its design is of the same caliber.

There are games that are just to play a while and that's it. Balloon fight, Katamari Damacy and this game fit that.

Anyone here remembers "P.A.W.S, your Personal Automated Wagging System. Dogs simulator"?

It was a fun game even it didn't take long to do everything.

I absolutely love the sound design in this game, and I hope the music will actually be in the gameplay because it just adds way more comedic value, if running around as a goose playing a harmonica wasn't enough.

You are right. I am wrong. You have won this round of internet discourse. For your victory, I congratulate you.

Holy shit... I'll be picking this up along side Link's Awakening. Sad that they couldn't think of a good title, and just left it as "Untitled Goose Game" out of laziness and lack of creativity. They could have at least called it something like "Pranking Goose Simulator".

Arguably, I think it's a creative title and it matches the humour.
