I mean if I'm not mistaken this is based on the PSP version which itself is based on the GBA version so that's a good version to use for this version lol

I'm just glad there's potential progress on this. Hope it works out :3
it will be my first solo project since since my fire emblem 6 edit i did for a competition where i made the game even harder difficulty called "Kamikaze" or to put it in english Suicide mode! If I can find the file(patch i'll post it here but not sure if it will work with a english translated rom as it was in japanese as i am Japanese originally. Fun fact about me I cant actually speak English only write/type it.

Well thank you for your kind words but writing on a computer or in a letter is nothing like speaking it, I have difficulty speaking English so I type it instead. the only words I can say in my broken english is good morning and even that sounds pretty bad.

I'm excited now, if you could finally break that DPK file I can finally say I beat FF1 on every system it's be released on!

I wont lie the dpk encryption is pretty tough but im pretty sure there is a way to remove that small piece of code that corrupts the files once compiled into a new version, but the real challenge is finding it in the first place that's the bit im trying to figure out at the moment.

You are pretty much a god if you can finally get the DPK file editable and not crashing

Its been cracked, There are tools to extract and decompress the assets in it. Please read the threads as a whole.
The only thing missing is a proper re-compressor and re-packer. I believe my current re-compressor has issues that cause archives to extract incorrectly on console. The re-packer seems to work fine.The decompression on console causes a data abort by it seemingly decompressing out of bounds. Which means while we understand _HOW_ to decompress it for somereason its not aligning with the compression

Thanks I'll need it.

Quick Second message I noticed the main menu with new game and load game is already in english so that is a bit less work for me to do however the character creation menu is in my native language which shouldn't be an issue. I can't provide an accurate estimate on the completion of this as the game is a big. Then again final fantasy games are aren't they? But once I got some the game translated i'll update you however i wont put the patch out until it's completed and spell checked.
As I don't think anyone wants a translation with graphical glitches and errors. I know I wouldn't that's for sure
and with that i'm going to make a start on this

Remember the issue isn't translating it, it's making sure the game still runs on console with everything translated instead of just dying when the translated text is inserted. One possible issue is in the recompression phase which might cause issues the console doesn't like, as alluded to above. So that's a big part of it too.

I think. I could have worded that poorly.

Actually its not "english" the font table has mono spaced English characters built in already. So while yes you could in theory translate everything that way there is a good chance it will look horrible. The text engine would need to be updated to support an English font set to look good. I never even got to the part of looking into the text renderer due to having issues getting asset packing to fail when launched on console.

This is exactly what the issue is atm, recompression is not working properly for some reason
