On topic of "hw2test" being non sufficient:
The other tools I could recommend would be "ChipGenius_v4_00_0030" or "Flash_Drive_Tester_v114".

Then again... *if* his drive is legit, but busted, I'm not sure in how much it will help. Probably not . at. all...

Eitherhow, if it isn't working as it is supoosed to (and can't be fixed)
it's worthless to keep talking about it, and just get a new one.

Still, make sure to not buy you cards from shady vendors.. online...
Don't be cheap on that.

(2 Pages is enough already... Everything relevant has been said)

Your post isn't relevant. The last few posts before yours are. Sometimes it helps to read a thread's comments from the end to find the most current situation.

The situation: People want to help, but they don't know better. So they give shit advice that wastes everyone's time.

Also: Hypothetically "Amazon" has sent out fakes, (but Amazon hosts X amount of distributors) so now people suspect Gamestop of hosting fakes.

Are you using the supplied SD card adapter with your SDXC card or are you just plugging the SDXC card straight into the card readers micro SD slot? If you are just plugging the SDXC card straight into the slot in the card reader it 'might' just behave like a normal SD micro card, 32 GB limitation et al. Hopefully it will make the card reader think your SDXC card is a normal SD card which won't have the 32 GB limit.

I am using the adapter I showed on page 2, currently I don't have a way to plug the micro sd straight into the card reader.
The 1 I have right now only works with adapters, and it says SDHC on it and not SDXC, so that's most likely the problem.

That is 100% the problem. Old SD adapters can only do upto 32gb. Any modern SD adapter will work however I recommend this one https://www.amazon.com/Transcend-TS...11&s=gateway&sprefix=transcend,aps,219&sr=8-4

It's what I'm using with my U3 cards and it gets the full 80-90mbps that the card can handle.

Thanks for the quick response, and it works fine with Windows 7?? It recognizes the full size of the card no problem?
The reason I am asking is people all over reddit keep saying how only Windows 10 recognizes cards that are higher than 32gb.

It doesn't really have to do with Windows 7, If you want to format a SDXC card as FAT32, you would have to use a third party formatting tool such as guiformat, minitool partition wizard, by default SDXC card come in as exFAT. Beside Windows 7 support ends in Jan 2020, so time for you to upgrade.

Maybe someday, but not right now. I can't stand the interface, looks a lot like a cell phones. I tried it yesterday and had to downgrade it back to Win7.

Personally, I use minitool partition wizard free to format as fat32 while bypassing the native Windows limit.

If you want to check for fakes, use h2testw.
I'll give it a go.

Windows 7 doesn't have a 32GB limit. It's his sd card reader being sdhc and not sdxc. Thanks for the 100th recomendation of h2testw on this thread though.

That's the last place I would take advice from on something like this. They can fuck off with their misinformation.

As said before it has nothing to do with the OS. It's best to use something like guiformat in your case as it's very end user friendly. I say this as Win7/10 both lack all of the various formatting options available through the generic right click "format" tool. Using the command prompt you can specify what file system to use but it's not for everyone.

It's worth noting I've used this card reader on a win95 machine with out issue. The card was formatted for FAT32 and not exFAT...

It doesn't matter that support ends soon depending on what your using it for. For some people it *might* but it's highly subjective to your usage case. We won't be seeing updates for things like .net and the like but chances are that doesn't matter for someone still using a win7 machine.

Dude did you see the reviews on this 1?
https://www.amazon.com/Transcend-TS-RDF5K-microSDHC-Reader-Black/dp/B009D79VH4/ref=sr_1_4?crid=307273UF1GMPH&keywords=transcend+sd+card+reader&qid=1566759211&s=gateway&sprefix=transcend,aps,219&sr=8-4
I don't want my micro sds turning into dust. Every SD card reader I found on amazon has a bunch of people saying how they burn their micro sd cards..
What the hell man which 1 do I choose to play it safe?

It seems like that one guy was buying returned products from a bad seller, but it doesn't account for other review/s saying it runs hot.

I have something like this: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Reader-Adapter-5Gbps-Simultaneously/dp/B01ARAH6O0

But you have to pay a premium.

I don't even know what I'm using. The fat ass plastic casing was long ago ripped off. I have one of them bare nekkid pcbs. Having said that, pretty much anything these days will work. It comes down mostly to what you are comfortable paying, and if you feel like the reviews lead you in a positive way. Don't pay attention to shit like brand names. _EVERY_ company has or will make bad products, and every company has or will ship faulty products. Such is the price of mass manufacturing. Just get something that does support SDXC. Anything with USB3.0 should support SDXC as I believe SDXC pre-dates usb 3's public release.

Personally speaking I wouldn't like that Transcend one someone linked earlier because it's fat ass casing and having a card slot on the top and bottom of the pcb means it's a pain in the dick to fit it in a usb slot with anything plugged in within 10 miles of it. I like the look of that sabrent someone linked earlier. I would prefer something like what tabzer linked but I don't have the deskspace for it or the need for 370 million different card type support.

Looks pretty good, even the 1 star reviews aren't too bad. Appreciate it tabzer, now I know what to get!

My SD reader is an elecom, and it's got a usb extension and base like that ugreen one. I can't find it on Amazon. I have a UGreen HDMI Switch, and it works well. That had similar reviews as this UGreen sd reader. The people who had trouble received obviously defective product. I guess the worse case is that you'd have to return it if it doesn't work for you. I'm satisfied with my experience of UGreen, though. That's my rationalization of the suggestion.

I like Deathwing Zero's point of view. I used to have a cheap-o sd reader I used for a long time until it finally fell apart.

If you don't need the CompactFlash port, I can vouch for the Tek-Republic TUC-300 as it has the best form factor of any reader I've dealt with, is cheaper, and microsds fit snug enough that you shouldn't have to worry about data corruption caused by a loose connection:

https://www.amazon.com/Tek-Republic-TUC-300-Portable-Reader/dp/B00D50UNRM

The Ugreen reader looks like it'll do the job as well, but I'd find the long cable a bit of a nuisance.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
