I dumped my copies of Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Y and installed them through FBI. When I try starting them up, I get a crash. With Alpha Sapphire, the crash screen is blank, but if I press a button, it restarts like it crashed. I have tried reinstalling and even redumping the cartridges. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

As my signature states, I am on 11.10.0-43U, with Luma v10.0.1. I can try booting into v9.1 with fastboot to see if that's the issue.

EDIT: I tried with v9.1, it still crashed in Alpha Sapphire
Reade further down in that third thread in how to go about A/B testing whether your game crashes is to due to fake/dying SD card, bad install setup, or something wrong with the 3DS firmware.

So far doing this on a different SD card works, but AS needs the update, will test soon with update

UPDATE: Pokemon X is now affected, will redump when I find my cart. X was working previously.
Are you using any Luma patches or cheats for Pokemon X?

***

Your dumped 3DS roms converted to CIAs might be bad due to faulty game carts, like this this person's Super Smash Bros.
See if you can download a clean dump of Pokemon X from that ISO site, convert it to CIA if it's a 3DS rom, install that copy, and check if the bug reappears.

Will do, and if it works, I'll have to do it with all affected games (SteelDiver doesn't work but that's probably due to it being used in SteelMiner a while back)

UPDATE: So far, reinstalling X hasn't worked. I was thinking it could be a save file issue, so I got a different save and replaced the 00000001.sav in the data folder with the one I just got, it was still crashing. It is seemingly not a save issue.

You can't swap the 00000001.sav that came from a different system because of encryption.

Good to know, but how do I get rid of the save completely, JKSM can't erase it and Checkpoint doesn't have the feature

Manually resetting the save for Pokemon X,
  1. On a computer, make a copy of the 00000001.sav and edit the first 32 (0x20) bytes with all 00 in HxD hex editor.
    • You can't edit the original save found at sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/title/00040000/00055E00/data/00000001.sav
  2. In GodMode9, press (Y) on 00000001.sav to [CLIPBOARD] select it.
    • Press (SELECT) to reset selection in case of mistake.
  3. Go to the [A:] SYSNAND SD/title/00040000/00055E00/data directory. Press (Y) to paste: <A> yes<A> yes → button combo → Overwrite file(s).
  4. Press (A) on the newly pasted 00000001.savCalculate CMAC → etc.
-or-

Download the Nintendo SDK, SaveDataFiler. It has the ability to reset the save like the above steps. You would have to look for that app on your own.

Before this threads ends up a back and forth between you two that leads nowhere, OP, turn ARM exception handlers in the Luma settings to ON, then try launching the games and tell us exactly what the crash error screens said was the cause, could be something stupidly simple like translation error when you have game patching on or something similar!

He'll need to resolve the save issue first. Games will refuse to launch if the save file is missing, has the wrong expected size, or does not have the correct CMAC.

True, but that can be fixed in literally seconds with JKSM since it can wipe a game's save or extra data (in case save is there) completely. If that doesn't work just doing it the way you posted is another option.

I tried JKSM's Delete Save Data on a game with its 00000001.sav swapped in for a copy filled with garbage hex values. It says the archive can't be opened. No changes occur to the save with its SHA-256 calculated before and after.

For SaveDataFiler's X: Revert to Factory Default, it randomizes the values and does first 0x20 bytes with zeros reset.

Some games will automatically reset the save for you if that file was swapped. Others will crash if it's not already in the right format.

Basically, save swapping in the first place was a bad idea.

Nonworking Pokemon game on an old (2/3)DS(XL) system that has 11.10.0-43 firmware and Luma3DS v10.0.1 seem to be common occurrence lately.

JKSM keeps erroring when trying to erase the save, so it's out of the question.

Here's the memory dump that was generated by Luma upon the crash (had to zip it because GBATemp doesn't directly let me upload .dmp files)

UPDATE: So far I managed to get AS to work... Don't know exactly what I did but I was able to install the game and reinject my most recent save. Will test Y when I can find my copy again, X will be the same.

UPDATE AGAIN: Y is working with latest save backup, reinstalled. X is still crashing on boot, even after deleting as many traces as I can from the SD Card. Any advice is useful at this point, at least I can continue my Wonderlocke from here.
