hmm...for some reason, widescreen isn't working for me. when I ran the .bat, it said that it couldn't find a hook. however, the file was still created.

nm, I had to open pokemon platinum (saw that widescreen support had been added). now, games seem to be in widescreen, including the ones I tried beforehand.

@Robz8 , I think I've got widescreen to work, but strangely, with the newest version of twilight menu++, I don't even need to select 16x10 to make it widescreen. at first, it wasn't in widescreen (when I tried dragon quest vi and ix). however, after loading pokemon platinum (said support was added), everything became widescreen. dragon quest ix, however, its save no longer seems to work. it freezes the system.

What theme are you using?

the default theme.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

@Robz8 , the problem only seems to be with the release version of bootstrap. debug works.

whether it's 4x3 or 16x10, it's always in widescreen. the only way to disable it is to disable external sys modules in luma.
Delete `TwlBg.cxi`from `sd:/luma/sysmodules`, and just have `Widescreen.cxi` at `sd:/_nds/TWiLightMenu/TwlBg/`.
then install the TWLMenu++ v9.0.4 CIAs using FBI, even if you already did so.

I just tried that. without TwlBg.cia in sysmodules, it doesn't do widescreen at all. the first time, it moved the file and changed the name in sysmodules. however, this time, it didn't move the file yet pokemon platinum still showed up in widescreen (only this game did). with the file in sysmodules, everything ds-related is in widescreen. I'm confused by what's going on here.

Try deleting the TWLMenu++ titles in Title list using FBI, then install the CIAs again.
It's possible the old titles aren't being overwritten by the new CIAs.

I tried changing to 16x10, but it still doesn't move the file.
What file? "TwlBg.cxi" or "Widescreen.cxi"?
If it's "Widescreen.cxi" that's not being moved to "sd:/luma/sysmodules/" and renamed to "TwlBg.cxi", try a full reinstall of TWLMenu++, because it would've shown a message, if it failed to move it.
If it's "TwlBg.cxi" that's still not being moved back to "sd:/_nds/TWiLightMenu/TwlBg/", and renamed back to "Widescreen.cxi", then I'm pretty sure you still have the outdated TWLMenu++ CIAs somehow.

still can't get it to work like that. certain games, like super mario 64, are in widescreen, but I can't tell if the file is being moved.

After running a game in widescreen, is the TWLMenu++ GUI stretched again?
If so, then it's "TwlBg.cxi" that's not being moved back and renamed back to "Widescreen.cxi".

yes, that's the way it was beforehand. now, it seems to move to and from with games like super mario 64 and pokemon platinum. dragon quest ix doesn't seem to work. if I manually place the file in sysmodules, then everything is in widescreen.
