Not sure if the person who took over the project still checks this, but I'll put this here just in case.
After failing to get the new S support for Tiki/Say'ri to proc, I opened the bin.lz up in FEAT.
It seems to be an entirely different support chain plus an S support that is very different to the new video posted.
The dropbox file also contains superfluous additions to the archive, such as empty C-A convos. Not sure what's up with that.
If anyone is in contact with Merril, can they please bring this to her attention?
Thank you!

I have a quick question about the save editing used to make the children of same sex couples show up as siblings ingame. Does that have to be done after you recruit the children in question or can it be done before you recruit them and after you get the parents S supported?

Edit:

I seem to be having issue with the save editing part of it all as well. I just accidentally turned Sumia into a Sully clone.

Is this mod Citra compatible or do I need a 3DS?

Yes, the patch is compatible with Citra, you just need to extract the ROM with HackingToolkit3DS V9 by Asia81, copy and paste the patch files (GameData folder, m folder) into the ExtractedRomFS folder and then rebuild the ROM.

This message was written with the help of the google translator.

Hey guys. So, I heard this mod also works on citra however I failed to get
it to work on my own and I can't find a comprehensive guide for that.
I play Fire Emblem Awakening on citra with a decrypted 3DS Rom of the game and I
especially have problems extracting the 3ds rom.

Can someone help me with that?

Hello!

I made a guide in Spanish on how to apply the patch in citra, it is in PDF format, and publish it in the Fates thread, but it has some steps that should not be applied normally, so I will publish the necessary steps here, I am using the translator from google, sorry.

Download "HackingToolkit9DS by Asia81" (Version 9, other versions will not work)

Unzip and Install (SeptuUS.exe) found in PackEnglishV9 \ PackHack

Run HackingToolkit3DS.exe from PackEnglishV9 \ PackHack

Choose option D (type D and press ENTER)

Drag your .3DS File (ROM) to the command window, then delete the .3DS extension

Press ENTER and then choose option Y (Type Y and press ENTER)

Wait for the Extraction to finish

Copy the contents of the m and GameData (Data for Awakening) folders of the patch:

----------------------------------------------
For Fates:

Gay Fates \ v 0.6.2.1 \ HANS version \ EU

Gay Fates \ v 0.6.2.1 \ HANS version \ NA

Or

Gay Fates \ v 0.6.2.1 \ HANS version \ JP

-------------------------------------------------
For Awakening:

Gay Awakening\V 0.3.1\HANS\EU\romfs

Or

Gay Awakening\V 0.3.1\HANS\NA\romfs

-------------------------------------------------

It will depend on the version of your Game.

Paste the m and Gamedata folders into: PackEnglishV9 \ PackHack \ ExtractedRomFS

In HackingToolkit3DS Choose option R (type R and press ENTER)

Drag your .3DS file to the command window and delete the .3DS extension

Wait for it to finish rebuilding the files.

Run the new file with Citra at the end of its name: _Edited.3DS

And that's it. I hope it helps.

I already have to say thank you for the quick and detailed reply.
However, I did what you told me but I run into a problem always.

When I extract my 3ds-ROM with the HackingToolkit i do not get an extractedRomfs-folder out of it.
I only have a DecryptedRomFS.bin data
Maybe the problem is that my Fire Emblem ROM is a decrypted one?

Sorry for being so insistent, but are you sure you have version 9 HackingToolkit (V9)?

I remember that the first time I did the same thing, but it was because I had version 12: HackingToolkit (V12) and only V9 works with decrypted roms

If you use HackingToolkit (V9), then it could be a rom problem

Oh, don't be sorry because actually you were right. I used the incorrect version of Hacking Toolkit. I used version Nr12....
didn't realized that until I checked again.

And yeah, now it works. I did everything according to your guide and tested it on citra. It seems to work.
Much thanks to you. I am very happy that it finally works now.

So, I've managed to edit supports and main story dialogue, but after having created a couple of Support files with all new S Supports added, I found that they won't automatically appear in the game (I made double sure I edited the character names and extensions within the bin.lz files, unpacked and repacked to make sure it wasn't changing it again) so afaik I have to do some more hardcore editing than altering a few files with formatted text in it.

I was browsing through pages about hex editing more supports but no matter how much I read I just don't understand what to do with my hex editor. I don't know what it means if a value is 0x0B4A8 or something, and I wouldn't know how to find it based on anything I'm looking at in HxD.

I'm trying to add it to Awakening between some characters that normally only have C-A, and I want to take that, keep their C-A but add in S. The game runs the edited text, it just doesn't have the S support I added.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Fuck, I wrote a long request about how to add an S Support and GBATempt asked me to log in, so now my message is gone.

Basically, I haven't been able to add a C-S support between characters that normally only had C-A. The .bin.lz files have been edited to have the S rank and I've checked that the character names are listed properly in accordance with the original files. I don't know if I need to do harder editing of the game in Hex Editor or not, but the S rank is not showing up in my game while the rewritten dialogue elsewhere does seem to be registering.

Can anyone simply tell me what it takes to create a new S support that runs in the game where there normally is only C-A.

To add new supports, it is not enough just to edit the bin.lz of the supports, but you need to edit the GameData.bin.lz to recognize them, it can be done using FEFEditor

So, I want to do it for Awakening but FEFE seems to... well, not do much most of the time when I try to open files.

Oh sorry, it looks like Awakening doesn't have a GameData.bin.lz file.
It has two, one in the "data" folder and one in the text folder. I only managed to open one of them with the "GameData Text" editor but uh... I have no idea what to do with all the "MDH_JAPANESE STUFF". I dunno if any of that determines what level of ranking a character has.

I meant that in Fates a GameData.bin.lz is used that is in a folder called GameData, in the Fates patch that is the file that is edited to add new supports, in Awakening there is no GameData folder (In the patch at least) but if there is the Data folder and there is a RelianceList.bin.lz file and a person folder that are the ones that bring the Awakening patch therefore in some of those files you have to make the modification but I don't know in which is. I'm sorry.

The GameData in the m folder only contains the names of the characters I think.

I found the RelianceList.bin.lz file in Data folder (same that contians GameData.bin.lz) but it just seems there's no pre-made tool to edit it. I'm not good at HxD'ing things so I haven't been able to do much with it, but I did unpack it using the FEAT decompressing tool (so it's RelianceList.bin instead)

EDIT:
Hey guy~ I've edited the support log to have pretty much every support combo in the game. First Gen x First Gen, First Gen x Second Gen, Second Gen x Second Gen even sibling and parent/child supports. Just replace the Reliancelist.bin.lz in the data folder.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/36087907/SupportLogWithEveryone.zip

Have fun with this~
So this was on Page 18. I've google searched the zip filename and looked but the Dropbox link is dead. If I could get this file, I would just use that, as it unlocks S-rank with everyone. Wish I knew how to do it myself and just add the ones I want, but I'm clueless when I sit in HxD, even when I try to follow the instructions that lead up to page 18.
