I just got this game, (pirated) since i don't have storage left on the hard drive i downloaded botw on a 14 gb flash drive and it seems that i can't fit the update file onto it, so maybe the problem is caused by the game being outdated?

you need the update on the same device than your game.
if your flash is not big enough, you won't be able to add the update.

And you don't need usbhelper to get the update, just let the game update officially.
it works even if you don't have cfw (and use the swapped ticket trick to launch it without cfw)

There's a chance you wouldn't have gotten through the game anyway before that flash drive died and you would have lost the game and the save. (unless you backed up the save) Flash drives are not meant for games get a real hard drive with a y cable or one that plugs into wall.

I've personally had flash drives die on me on Wii U and seen many others who have made threads that had the same thing happen. so you don't know what you're talking about. Sd cards aren't flash drives so your point is ignorant. You wasted your time making an account to make a stupid point. The read/write speeds of flash drives don't compare to sd cards. They are NOT meant to play games on you can even read the back of the packaging it's for transferring files like pictures etc...

Serious question do you not know that flash drives and sd cards aren't the same thing? lol smh. Even if they were you bring up different systems and phones the Wii U takes more power to load games which is why you need a y cable or wall plugin on an actual external hard drive.

But go ahead and stick with your flash drive on Wii U and one day when it dies you'll feel foolish. It might even last a year, but I would rather invest in something that would last forever than 1 year and have all my games and saves on it die.

Ohh, really. Has no one ever had regular spinning hard drive fail? Flash drives are perfectly fine for games. You are out of your league with what you think you know. Do you have any data that shows games run off of flash media stop working any quicker than games off of rusting disks? I know you don't, you just spread misinformation because you know nothing. Your info is from years ago.

The read/write speed don't compare to SD? WTF are you talking about. Games are about reading data, they aren't modifying game data. All they do is write a save here and there. If SD and flash drives were terrible for storing and reading and writing data then why would Nintendo encourage them for use for BOTH GAME INSTALLS, GAME RUNNING, AND GAME SAVES?
