Death Stranding possibly hinted at for PC release, following removal from list of PS4 exclusives

Despite being billed as a PlayStation exclusive for the past few years, a few recent changes seem to hint at Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding being slated to arrive on other platforms. Death Stranding was once listed on PlayStation UK, on a page that showed games that were "only on PlayStation", but within the past few days, the game has silently been removed from there. In addition, the recently-revealed boxart for the game lacks a PlayStation exclusive logo, further giving credence to the fact that Death Stranding could find its way to more than just the PS4. Though Sony has funded a majority of the game, along with supplying their own game engine, according to a now-deleted 2015 press release offering more information about Death Stranding, the game was never meant to stay a PlayStation exclusive.

There's no clear reason as to why the briefing was deleted after so many years had passed, but in it, Kojima Productions stated that since the beginning of development, Death Stranding was planned for a PC release, after an unknown period of exclusivity with PlayStation. Currently, Kojima is at Gamescom this week to showcase new information about his upcoming title, where it is possible that we could see a PC version reveal, though we likely won't get any such confirmation until after the game officially launches on PlayStation 4, on November 8th.

I don't think this will be heading to pc or any other platforms, using a Sony proprietary engine to make a multiplatform game I don't believe it until I see it, of course people will point out Sony exclusives that went to pc like the Quantic Dream games but those weren't made on technology provided by Sony, Supermassive games until dawn never became a Multiplatform game despite the developer turning into a Multiplatform developer either because the technology used by the game is owned by Sony, besides Death stranding is going be the Major first party game for the fall season I don't believe Sony would fund the game almost entirely and give kojima their technology to make a multiplatform title.

I am stick with PS4 because PC doesn't have God of War series. I am a huge fan of God of War series so it is making sense to me to have PS4 instead of PC. I love PC but it is perfect for emulators and other that I want to use for PC. Not PC gamers (Unless some games I really want never came to PS4 then I will). :)

Fair enough, pc has a ton of its own exclusives but nothing quite like god of war.

This. Death Stranding uses Sony's Decima Engine. The same engine that was used for Horizon: Zero Dawn. Not a chance this is coming to PC or XB1. The only reason I can see for it being removed, is that a PS5 version is also going to be released.

That isnt any kind of reason for it to not be on pc, sony has had games with their own engines on pc before and so have countless other devs. Sony could still want to block it from being on pc, but I dont think they will.

Sony was big because of exclusives but more and more are coming over to pc. Wonder how the Sony fanboys will complain about Microsoft now future wise.

The engine is still x86 based so they can do that easily

I dont think it matters if exclusives come to pc, there are just too many people who only want to game on console. Im also sure sony will keep a good amount of first party games exclusive anyway as well.

It’s just an engine. Doesn’t really matter

Still PLENTY of great PS exclusives that have never received a port. PLENTY. Let us count how many retail exclusives the XB1 has, shall we?

Azito x Tatsunoko Legends
Forza Motorsport 5
Halo 5: Guardians
Powerstar Golf
Rare Replay

What a fantastic lineup. Fanboy? No. Just honest. XB1 is a failure.
