Dragon Quest XI S will have a demo available before release, save progress will carry over

PfG5TuR.png

Some Dragon Quest goodness has already arrived on the Nintendo Switch, with the launch of the Hero DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If that's not enough, though, then you'll soon be able to play some of Dragon Quest XI S, prior to the game's release. During Japan's Dragon Quest Summer Festival, Square Enix revealed that Dragon Quest XI S would be getting a demo on the Switch eShop, with players receiving a special item, a "skill seed" if they transferred their demo save data to the full game. There's no word on when the demo launches, but it'll be before the game officially releases, on September 27th.

Um what? Demos are to try out the game.

That is an extremely narrow sense of the word demo you are using - and totally not idiomatic.

almost 90% of refunds are of games dropping frames, crashing, and working slow, i have never ever in my entire life seen someone refund a game because he didn't like the gameplay.

Ever heard of no man's sky?

And the demo is intended to entice players - it's for marketing purposes - players also get a better idea of the game from playing it than from videos

Too bad the game is pretty boring.

The re-allocate skillpoints makes replaying value zero, the game piss easy, and to top it off, the game drags along so so much (after collecting the 7 dragonballs i thought i was done, but nope! - i felt burned out at that point and they just slapped on filler to extend the game, which it really did not need)

Glad switch owners can relive it on ultra low settings 540P sub 25 fps, but hey, gotta play something on a dead system right?

is this a good game for my first dragon quest experience

start with VIII, XI is terrible.

"dead system right?"

I understand not liking the switch, but to call it dead is some form of cognitive dissonance

Hate to say it, but you're wrong. It's in HD, what the hell have you been smoking? But yeah, keep thinking with your "it's dead because I hate it" bullshit mentality.

Maybe you should sell your Switch to someone who's more open minded and less prone to hate something because it's not powerful.
It's time you build a gaming PC or getting a PS4 pro instead.

Didn't know 37 million sales was dead. Huh.

Sure looks like a failure to me

Dragon Quest IX or VI I would recommend (9 is my fav dq game because it's a multiplayer jrpg with a ton of content especially if you unlock/save edit the dlc quests)
I am 100% certain DQ (the franchise) won't get me to dust off and use my DS in 2019

DQ IX's servers also dead so you won't be getting to do much any way other than the single-player component which is still really good.
You can save edit the quests in since this is the ds era and note 3ds or after

If not that run it in an emulator and upscale it and add effects play with a friend

hopefully, the demo will be out in a week or two. temp is pretty good when it comes to posting news like this, then it being confirmed (possibly through release here). :) I plan to prepurchaSe the game the moment I can. the spyro trilogy is available for prepurchase already, and I think that comes out a couple weeks before dragon quest xi does.

dragon quest goes in trilogies (i.e. 1-3 with Erdrick etc.), so you do come across some of the same locales. however, each game is standalone. you don't have to have played the other games in any of the trilogies to understand what's going on. with that being said, 10, 11, and the eventual 12 should all relate to one another.

I don't remember "caryovers" ever being a thing - quite the opposite, demos often included their own levels to showcase the game. Maybe you're talking about 90/2000s shareware, but that's its own thing, really.
Hmmm, im thinking about all that magazines that came out in the 90s/early 2000s and they mostly had demos with a caryover option.

They did this save transfer from demo to full game in octopath traveler. The scene also manages to play past the demo after a couple of tinkering using layeredfs. Hope the same thing happened
